The Ayara Hotel is exceptional. We have travelled the world for decades and stayed in many hotels from the most luxurious chains to quaint boutique hotels and the Ayara is the best hotel we have stayed in for a balance of value for money, charm, location and above all else the staff. The staff at the Ayara are simply the best. The best in the world. Chef Tom and his team are absolute masters of Thai and fusion cuisine. The breakfast is fantastic. There is an a la carte breakfast menu with amazing egg dishes, Thai delights and local fruit and fish. There is also a buffet menu with delicious pastries and Asian dishes. The stand out dinner dish is Chef Tom's roasted duck curry - amazing! The bar and restaurant team of Ning and Nick were amazing and they were the perfect hosts - friendly, attentive and full of local knowledge and charm. The bartenders (sorry, I didn't get the names) produced amazing cocktails for us each night (several times!) with the happy hour a most welcome treat. There are also daily complimentary activities such as Thai cooking with Chef Tom, cocktail making and market day strolls. All brilliant. The room we had was superb. It opened out onto the pool area and we had a complimentary minbar, a wonderful shower and a great spa bath. The decor was lovely and the choice of scented candle was a very nice touch. There is a small gym that does the job of lessening the impact of Chef Tom's amazing food! The Ratana spa was a wonderful, calm oasis and the magical hands of the ladies were brilliant. The hotel runs a shuttle bus/car from the hotel to Kamala Beach which runs to the second. It is a really great concept as the hotel is on quiet, wooded hills overlooking the Andaman Sea and so avoids the noise and bustle of the beach area but is just minutes away by a luxurious (and complimentary) car that runs every two hours. Simply brilliant!

In the interests of continual improvement, I offer the following observations. Please note, these are not criticisms in any way. They are designed to help an exceptional hotel get even better. Firstly, it would be helpful to list the full ingredients on the cocktails. Some had soda water toppers that weren't listed. My wife hates fizzy drinks and got caught out twice!! Secondly, the gym had air conditioning but this was understandably switched off as gym use was not high. It would be nice to have a system that would allow guests to book a pre-cooled gym as it took a good 15 minutes to cool down once switched on. Finally, for the cooking lessons with Chef Tom, would it be possible to have ingredient and method sheets to take away? I hope these observations help!!

The photos are taken in wide mode so it depress you when you notice that rooms are smaller than how it look in photos presented on the booking.com The breakfast is very very poor, yet the staff was really nice and trying to support as much as possible Didn’t feel good with my experience I stay only 2 days and left
