Cortijo Salva

The cortijo is a very pretty, typical Andulucian casa. The large, fully enclosed, garden is lovely (and perfect for our elderly dog) with many old olive trees giving shade, as well as large rockeries and shrubbery, and several places to sit in the shade. I thoroughly enjoyed a much needed dip in the new plunge pool every evening. Maria gave us a very friendly greeting on arrival and took time to show us the very well equipped accommodation. It was super clean and really nicely presented. The large TV in the small lounge was great for watching Spain win the world cup. Restaurant Cañuela, a 4 min drive away up the hill is well worth a visit for the food and beautiful views. Periana itself is a short drive away and has a good Dia supermarket close to a few bars/cafés. We fed a lovely, very timid, abandoned Podenco dog that we named Harvey, so if y ou're a dog lover, I know he'd appreciate some food and water.

Unfortunately we were there for the extremely hot weather (39 degrees one of the days) and there is no airconditioning (we filtered on 'aircon' but my filters disappeared when searching without me realising it). Also due to the extreme weather conditions there were a lot of flies to contend with.

The house was exactly what we hoped for—rural, quiet and cosy, perfect for three nights with the family. The owner, Maria, is absolutely lovely: incredibly helpful, attentive, and supportive both before and during our stay. We visited in April when the nights were cooler, but there’s a lovely wood fire in the living area, along with portable heaters if required in the bedrooms and plenty of blankets to keep everyone comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, and there’s a fixed brick BBQ outside, which we made good use of one evening, as well as a large garden to explore. We loved the area—the scenery is beautiful, and the remoteness made it ideal for some proper quality time together. There is a well stocked local supermarket 5 minutes drive from the house and some local restaurants although we didn't eat out during our stay.

Nothing to add, we really loved the place.

Maria is an Angel. Maria eres un Angel !!! The House was very Clean and everthing you need was there. The Garden is big and for Dogs a Paradise. You have Trees with Fruit and a Lot of Space for Cars, Bikes and everything. We had a wonderful Holiday. Come and see and Visit the Corijo Salva...

It was very hot ans a small Pool can help. That was we missed
