The best thing about our stay was the management. The ladies are the most friendly people I have ever met. We had issues with our stay right away and they worked very hard all month long to make us comfortable and feel like family. They did the best they could to address all our concerns. None of our bad experiences had to do with these ladies. They were absolutely exceptional people.

The apartment we booked was not available due to a water issue. We were placed in another apartment the first night, but we understood. We went out to the beach the next day and some construction workers in the building called us faggots. The ladies who manage the building took care of this right away. The building was under construction during our month long stay. The outside of the building was being renovated for many days which we had to close the windows. This created a problem because the only air conditioning was in a bedroom upstairs so it became hot in the apartment with the windows closed. There was also construction and a lot of banging going on in other apartments. The apartment was not cleaned very well. We believe this was due to the cleaning lady they had, but before we left they had a new cleaning lady who was very nice. The main bedroom has a king size bed that is like sleeping on the floor. The management did give us some mattress padding to try to help, but we just had to learn to deal with the hard bed. That room also has a lot of mold on the ceiling. It could be because one of the windows does not align properly with the wall and has a big gap that they have plastic stuck into the crack. This does not help and allows for many bugs to enter. We had gnats, ants, spiders, and cockroaches during our stay. The upstairs bathroom toilet did not have a toilet seat to sit on. We had to place toilet paper on it if we needed to sit down to use it. We lost electricity many times during our stay as well as water pressure. Also, there is no hot water, but is typical for Cartagena. However, no water pressure made showering difficult many mornings. We did walk to the beach one time and it wasn’t very far. However, you need to take care as someone attempted to rob us on our walk back to the apartment. All of our additional trips to the beach we used a taxi service to ensure our safety.
