Brighton Park is a largely residential neighborhood on Chicago's Far South Side. Borrowing its name from Brighton, Massachusetts, the area is known for being a hub of trucking and transportation. But, despite its industrial and commercial draws, it's mostly a blossoming residential area home to Chicagoans who want easy access to the city but having a quiet neighborhood to call their own. Brighton Park attracts folks from all across the city looking for a true community to call home.

Ride-sharing apps or public transportation is what we recommend especially if you plan on going into the city where parking is hard and/or expensive to find. A train ride is often faster than driving during peak traffic hours and maximizing your time in the area is key during a short stay.

Parking is usually not too difficult on this block, but can get tighter in the evenings.

The place was clean, but it was nothing like it was described. The property manager claimed that there was 3 beds and a sleeping sofa when there was only two beds and a very uncomfortable futon. Two of us had to share a bed which was extremely uncomfortable and unplanned. AC was locked and you could not adjust to your liking instead the manager would control it from his phone which is extremely constricting and inconvenient. I did not get one night of sleep due to the extreme loud noises the neighbors would make super late at night and the random people would come knocking and filtering in and out super later at night (12am-04am). It is definitely not a family friendly place. I would not recommend, especially that you could find much better places for the same rate.

Look just like the pictures. Neighborhood was quiet access to home was simple. Only two things I didn’t like. Upstairs was extremely loud all 3 days we stayed. You can hear them stomp up and down the stairwell. The bed in main bedroom is really uncomfortable and hard. Everything else was great location was perfect. Host and back neighbor were welcoming.

This is a fantastic budget find. The property is 12 minutes from downtown and it’s close to a Lyft bike rack for easy mobility around the neighborhood ( or further if that’s your thing). However, it was a little musty. It smells like water damage or something along those lines. The property itself is clean so I’m fairly certain it’s not a hygiene problem. Maybe an air purifier would help with this. The second bedroom is also quite small. It has a twin bed (think college dorm but smaller). If you’re under 6 feet you should be fine. Otherwise just sleep in an “S” shape. The neighborhood is in the heart of the Latino Community so the food is good. We did not spend much of our days in the property so I cannot speak to the noise levels after school (there is a school right outside). Overall, I’d recommended this property for anyone looking for a quick affordable option around Chicago. If you’ll be spending your time in River North, Lincoln Park, etc, just be prepared for Uber rides ranging from 22-40).

Everything was clean and exactly as described. Easy check in and check out and the location is convenient to downtown and Midway.

Property was okay but I noticed a few issues while I was there including ants, broken glass on the floor of one of the bedrooms, hair in the shower drain from previous "tenants", and a shelf in the bathroom that wasnt actually attached. Also, I slept in the smaller room and the upstairs neighbors went down the stairs like a herd of elephants at both 12:30am and then again at 3am. I appreciate Freddy's attempt to help by having earplugs there but maybe a chat with whoever is upstairs regarding their stair usage would be good. Overall I felt the property was overpriced for the actual value. I did message Freddy a few times via tbe vrbo app and never received more than those auto responses. The property had a lot of rules and having a camera staring at me everytime I went in or out was unnerving. I will probably just stick to Hotels in the future.

It was great for our needs! Definitely hear EVERYTHING though as usual for most older places in the city.
