Live Lugano - Via A Riva

Gorgeous flat, beautiful property and views. Enjoyed the balcony. It was incredibly spacious. We really enjoyed spending time there. It was in a central location.

When we arrived to the property, the host messaged to say he had upgraded us for free which we were really grateful for. He then forgot to send us new details of the property until I phoned him and then he told us that the new upgraded property was 30 mins away from the original flat. It would have been fine if we received details of the upgraded flat earlier as it was actually a better location than the flat we’d originally booked. We’d had a long day and then had to walk 30 minutes to check in.

Good location, a 20-minute walk from the train station, but you can also take bus number 2 (free transport; ask the host for a tourist card). The apartment, on the fifth floor with an elevator, is comfortable, spacious, and quiet despite being on the corner of a busy street. The kitchenette is sufficiently equipped. A comfortable bathroom. Shopping is available at Coop City, not directly next to the house, but nearby. Good online communication with the host. The keys are in a box.

Location

First of all picture on here are deceiving. Nothing like what you see online, we got a tiny apartment. There is no balcony or a view, no dining table and the beds are uncomfortable. The kitchen didn’t have a washing machine, microwave or toaster. No cleaning products, vacuum or sweeping brush. If you make a mess in the apartment then you have to just live with that mess. On the site it mentions that is a washing machine which is one of the reasons I booked this place because I have two kids, however you have to pay for the washing machine. There is no “special request” you have to pay for it and it’s outside the apartment. This has to be mentioned on their details. It seems that the owners didn’t not clean before we came because there was dust and spider webs on lights and side of the wardrobes. Also the tv remote’s batteries were not working clearly shows that the owners didn’t even check if everything is working for the guests. I contacted the staff told her my son watches the tv and the remote is not working. I had to connect the tv to my mobile and I got ignored for whole day, I had to contact the staff again to remind her it’s not working. She didn’t message me or anything instead I got a call from a number asking me what’s wrong with the tv. Another reason I choice this apartment because of the sofa bed and it was so uncomfortable that my husband had to sleep on the floor for 5 nights. I used the washing machine and there was no washing powder or tablets I had to wait for staff to bring it for me and the machine wasn’t working properly it didn’t finish so I had to finish washing my clothes in the apartment. I send a video of the machine and my clothes to staff but I was told you have to pay. Why should I pay for something that didn’t finish the job. Overall it’s disappointing waste of money. I get a message the small bathroom towel is damaged and I have to pay €30 euros for that!!!

The property was in a good location, especially when using the central train station. It was satisfactory for a one night stay.

Having arrived at 4pm (the provided check in time), the key wasn’t in the lock box. After 20-30 minutes of waiting outside, the cleaner came down with the key, having only finished cleaning. The cleaner was kind and apologetic, but the organisation was disappointing. On arrival, the bedding was untidy and the flat had a prominent smell. Key factors of my unhappiness was the cleanliness. There was a chewing gum sticker stuck to a used ash tray, and there was a discarded lid on the floor (see images below). Other points are - the balcony door didn’t open without lifting the carpet; there was no air-conditioning in the living room where I was sleeping; there was only one coffee pod in a used jam jar - different to that displayed online where you had an entire box available - strange with 3 guests booked to stay. I don’t know whether we had a bad room out of those available, as most of the images look nice. If it was up to me, I’d have my cleaning fee refunded. Thanks.

Apartment is clean and location is good

Very very small apartment than showed in pictures. AC not working properly. No AC or fan in hall where the sofa bed is there. Washing machine is written but not there actually.

It is indicated in the description that there is a washing machine in both appartment we rented. Actually it was in the building basement and required a card we did not have. The landlord took 3 days to give us the card and asked we pay 5chf extra per laundry load (though was indicated included on booking) ... only to discover the price at the basement automat was 3chf. Other issue: the ticino ticket that the landlord took 3 days to issue meaning we had to pay for 3 days of public transportation while it was supposedly included in the price
