Hotel Alcázar

Location was 10/10, staff 10/10 - rooftop bar was very nice. Two good examples of the staff, when i checked in (around 10pm) the guy on reception told me if i go up to the rooftop at midnight i'd see the fireworks, i didn't know there was a display that night, i went out and it did not disappoint. On check-out in the AM, I had already left but I had an unexpected delay of 3hrs, the lady on reception let me come back in and store my bag and remembered me / my room number - great attention to detail.

Bathroom and the bed - so i hate twin single beds anyway, not the hotels fault they ran out of doubles, but instead of just pushing the two together, some hotels have sheets that can make two singles up into a double, and this hotel did not (I emailed ahead to request a double bed during the day, they replied that they had sold out). Also the bathroom was a very strange layout - too small, blocked shower drain, smelly, and the the bidet was so close to the toilet and facing at an L shape cutting it across, it was hard to sit comfortable on the toilet. The bathroom door was also in the way, you had to maneuver in and around it to close it - for this size bathroom it should be a sliding door.

Great location. Clean. Wonderful view from rooftop bar. Extremely helpful and friendly staff.

A little noisy in the morning but mostly from the cleaning of rooms and other guests bathrooms.

1) No in-room safe - hotel offered an option for an additional per night charge. 2) No in-room fridge (I’m a diabetic and needed to keep insulin as well as other meds cool. Front desk did offer an option but I chose to keep my meds under my control. 3) Our room continuously smelled of sewage. Could not isolate the source and gave up trying. 4) Breakfast was outright expensive for quality and choice of food selection/offerings. We had it first day and skipped next two days. 5) Lastly, it was hard to get a smile or hello out of front desk staff. One individual in particular chose to bury his head in the computer screen to avoid any eye contact until absolutely necessary.
