Loved the history and setting of this hotel

Hotel strategically located at top of the hills with amazing views from the room and the breakfast terrace. The room was spacious and the air conditioning worked perfectly during the day. Staff were outstanding; helpful and respectful. Taking the elevators to the shore and to the swimming area was amazing and provided a unique experience.

Expected more varieties at breakfast as part of the buffet. You need to pay to get some items like egg omelette

Breathtaking property, in the best location!

So, this amazingly, breathtaking property needs some human touch, some care, some people oriented management and values. The entire services and property facilities and equipments (like the beds, mattresses, pillows…etc) felt like it was there just because it needs so be, like some Marked As Done tasks, so the experience itself had no warmth at all. The staff was acting with fear by the owner, telling us that this will be so upset if we stay at the terrace to have just a glass of prossco - so NO dinner - in our t shirts and shorts. The fear in the guy eyes was no words for me! Also, the staff had too few people on a shift, they were almost jogging to be on service, and being kind at the same time. And they were! The breakfast has nothing to do with the number of stars!

We liked the interior decoration of this hotel.

A magnificent hotel with an interesting history, a wondeful place on the top of a hillabove the see. There is a convenient elevator that takes you down from the hotel grounds directly to the port. The restaurant terrace offers a magnificient view of the sea!

Amazing hotel with equally great service staff. View from restaurant at dinner is breathtaking.

Staff, location room facilities and cleanliness were all exceptional. This hotel is exceptional and the restaurant for dinner is a “Wow” factor bonus.

Only an ok stay other places are available

The location and history was excellent. The staff on arrival were great and helpful. We had room 103 with spa bath. Good breakfast with great service. Parking good. Had a 6 night stay.

Right, l reported to the evening reception gentleman (tall large chap) that the spa wasn’t working. Later the next evening I asked him what was happening. His reply was that the maintenance man had a look and it needed a part . What he didn’t realise I had marked up in pencil lines over the control console and the main power switch by the door. The same lines were present therefore nothing had been checked ( I am an engineer). Therefore being told an untrue response isn’t good and resulting loss of face . The pool was out of season so fair enough, however nowhere to sit comfortably in a relaxed environment to read and have a drink or coffee/ tea which is unacceptable given the high rating. In short your room is the only place which on a rainy day would certainly be bored. No in room tea/coffee making facilities very poor. Shame we won’t stay here again and recommend the Due Mare which although less attractive has much better facilities including a spa and indoor swimming pool plus relaxing library and sitting room and cosy bar. So simply it was bed and breakfast nothing more.

The place to stay if you are going to Sestri

It is the most impressive and beautiful hotel in Sestri with spectacular grounds and fantastic views. The staff at breakfast were very friendly and helpful and the selection and quality was great. Particularly the freshly baked focaccia they get from a local bakery.

This made seem odd to complain about given that you are staying in an old castle and should kind of expect it, but the general comfort level is not that high. Bed not very comfy and despite the room being huge just feels a bit empty and sparse. Overall it feels a bit dated but is in keeping with where you are staying.

Very nice castle in a beautiful scenery, but this is it.

Great location, very nice castle and garden. Breakfast is ok.

Room is sub standard for a 4* hotel. Could.have made an effort with the decoration. Bedding is also not at the standard. Cherry on the cake is the 20eur per person and per day to access the swimming pool.. at minimum 250 EUR per night, this is clearly a joke and taking their clients for a fool.

Strongly recommend the hotel (but not the restaurant), great hotel personnel, wonderful location!

All the personnel at the hotel was great, very nice, friendly, competent and helpful. The place is beautiful, the room and the whole hotel and gardens are extremely clean and beautiful. The people at the front-desk were wonderful and did their best and beyond to make us feel welcome.

Unlike at the hotel, not all employees at the restaurant are courteous and you may be treated as a nuisance at dinner. Overall, cannot recommend the restaurant for that reason, although the food is very good. Breakfast is adequate and most of the waiters are correct.

Exceptional

Its not just a hotel, its an experience. The charm and atmosphere of the place is incomparable. Some decor is from old times, but thats exactly it. The huge old park looks as it should, bit wild, bit misterious. Amazing beach on the rocks with private space and open view to the whole coast (we could easily book in July). Dining is a must (fresh oysters!). Few steps to the village center for dining out. We can't wait to be back.

Beautiful settings for an aging hotel

Location is incredible. Views are great. Air conditioning works fine. City is great and cute.

Rooms are a bit old. Time to remodel. Mattresses not super comfy. Elevator to go to the beach broke down.
