Here, life moves at a gentler pace. Enjoy the fresh sea air, the beauty of the surrounding countryside and the simple pleasure of being away from it all. Ocean’s End offers the kind of comfort that makes you feel relaxed from the moment you step inside. The interiors have a warm, understated coastal feel, with soft sea-inspired blues, natural timber floors and an abundance of sunlight. The heart of the home is the open-plan lounge area, which flows directly from the bespoke galley kitchen. Centered around a wood-burning stove, comfortable seating, and a south facing sunroom, this is the space for social cooking, morning coffees, and lively family board games. The kitchen at Ocean's End is a cook's delight and is fully equipped for your stay whether you’re preparing a leisurely breakfast, packing a picnic for the day or cooking dinner together in the evening. Open wooden shelves, local pottery, fresh flowers and thoughtful details give the kitchen warmth and character, while home baked goodies, brown soda bread, preserves and a well-stocked larder offer a taste of Irish hospitality from the moment you arrive. More than simply somewhere to cook, it’s a kitchen designed for leisurely breakfasts, late morning coffee and chats, evening tipples, and the simple pleasure of feeling at home while you’re away.
We designed the property around the joy of sharing meals, with unique spaces that make dining an experience in itself, whatever the weather. The main dining area is the beautiful, natural light-filled sunroom. This glass-enclosed room allows you to dine with panoramic views of the garden and surrounding farmland as well as the distant Atlantic Ocean, making it a bright, cheerful spot for breakfast and an elegant, tranquil setting for an evening meal. On warmer days the adjacent paved terrace and seating area is ideal for outdoor dining and entertaining. The alfresco experience at Ocean’s End is truly special. The large garden patio features a charcoal BBQ and an outdoor wood burning fireplace ideal for cooking pizza and steaks or for marshmallow toasting and s’more making! After a long day spent beachcombing and exploring, snuggle down in front of the glowing fire wrapped in a warm blanket while stargazing and storytelling late into the night.
Adjacent to the patio is the unique, glass-fronted Garden Room. A flexible indoor-outdoor space that acts as a play area, a dining hub, or a stunning observatory for watching the cows and natural surroundings while immersed in nature. This is the perfect hideaway with a good book in hand or a morning yoga ritual.
For quiet evenings, the separate Living Room is a true “snug”. Encased in the original 200-year-old thick stone walls, this room is designed for cosy movie nights with a smart TV, a plush corner sofa and its own wood-burning stove. It’s the perfect, intimate escape after a day on the coast.
Upstairs Ocean’s End offers 4 beautifully presented bedrooms each with its own character, combining crisp white bed linen, soft throws, natural textures and carefully chosen furnishings offering a warm, relaxed and understated coastal feel. The stairs divide near the top – left and right – to a pair of double ensuite bedrooms. Deep-set windows bring in plenty of natural light and a wonderful outlook across green countryside to the ocean beyond. Two cosy, characterful single rooms with traditional-style bedsteads and private countryside views lie to the rear and share an elegant well-placed family bathroom off the central landing. The main family bathroom is a sanctuary of indulgence. It features a deep, luxurious bath strategically placed by the window. This is the perfect spot to lie back and bath while taking in the views towards the ocean by day or for a full moon soak under the starry sky on a clear coastal night.
A truly relaxing holiday is one where every detail is taken care of. A dedicated laundry and boot room acts as the perfect buffer from the wild outdoors, housing a washing machine, tumble dryer, and a traditional ‘Sheila Maid’ clothes dryer. Most importantly, it features a handy “sandy toes” shower, perfect for rinsing off after a day at the beach before stepping into the main house.
We’ve designed Ocean’s End to be a true escape for the entire family. We provide the essentials for infants and toddlers, including a highchair and travel cot. For mealtimes, you’ll find a full set of durable children’s dinnerware. For playtime, books, toys and games are provided along with a selection of beach toys for days spent at the seaside.
Warm, welcoming and brimming with character, Ocean’s End is a hidden gem where life slows down, and simple pleasures take centre stage. Nestled where the land meets the Atlantic, it’s a place to unwind, reconnect with nature and savour unhurried days in good company. Come for the peace and tranquillity, fall in love with the beauty, and leave with treasured memories of West Cork that will stay with you long after your visit.

Incredible stay! Deirdre was so attentive and quick to respond. The home is gorgeous, well-maintained, and Deirdre and John are so welcoming. We had two small children in our party and Deirdre ensured the house was well-equipped during our stay from safety railings on the bed to toys/books. The location is a bit of drive, but absolutely worth it. Deirdre provided recommendations on where to go and eat. John took us on a tour of their dairy farm. The kids (and adults) loved being able to meet the cows, cats, and dogs! Highly recommend, just wish we could have stayed longer!

Oceans Edge was a wonderful 3 night stay for our family. We spent most of our time in the town of Clonakilty at a street carnival, sight seeing in Cobh & enjoying some drinks and entertainment in Cork city.Deirdre was a great host as well. She prepared cookies, brown bread and granola on arrival. We also had fresh cows milk, butter and eggs from the farm. The house has a nice sunroom on the ground level great for eating meals. There are also 2 wood burning stoves in the house which we did not need to use in the month of June. This is a 2 story home, so if any of the guests cannot climb stairs, then this you may want to reconsider. Our family of 5 had a great time at Oceans Edge. We did not have the opportunity to see John milk the cows, but we saw Teddy the border collier several times on the road between the 2 houses. He was a friendly dog. My kids loved seeing and petting him.If you want to get out of the city, have quality time with the family near a dairy farm, then one must consider Oceans Edge.
