Stoney Nook Cottage

Wow, this is a beautiful cottage which has been finished to a high standard with its age taken into consideration. We really enjoyed our evening here. The town is a minutes walk away and we found a couple of lovely walks for the dogs.

Only thing was the parking as very busy. But we did manage to park outside when a space did become avaliable.

Beautiful cottage in a perfect location, just 3 minutes walk from the centre of town. Comfy beds and clean facilities. Easy to.remember key code to access the front door keys and the owners responded quickly when asked a question.

There was nothing we didn't like but future bookers need to know that the staircase is narrow and steep without a handrail - not a problem for us but it may be for someone with restricted mobility (as this beautiful cottage is very old it wouldn't be possible to change the staircase)

Beautiful character cottage, small and cosy and with a nice modern kitchen. The dining area had a lovely wood burning stove, though we didn't need to use it (would be nice in the winter). Heating system easy to operate and cottage very warm and comfortable.

Seats in the lounge a little uncomfortable, so we spent more time in the dining area which was a much nicer and a more comfortable space.

Nice to have smart TVs, separate area for children (although my 10yo didn't use it in the end) and the house has been renovated nicely. Easy to check in, appreciated the 11:00 check out and getting parking sorted immediately upon request. Heating worked well and a handy info book in the property.

What was a really nice property was let down by whoever cleans it between guests. Glasses dirty, toaster covered in crumbs, every shiny surface (ALL mirrors, microwave etc) very smeary and foggy, stained bedding hastily thrown on to beds, something sticky still on the end of the kitchen counter, one toilet needed a flush, cobwebs and something on the floor beside fridge. One tea towel was quite heavily stained so I used the other one not realising how musty it smelled (like when you've left a load in the washing machine with the door just open so it dries all fusty smelling) so it made my glass (which I had to wash before use) smell too. Kitchen had a faint takeaway smell which increased significantly when opening the microwave or the bin. Some great facilities like the TVs, but not a single bin bag, dish cloth/sponge/soap, no kitchen roll, no mat for the bathroom floor (which is really needed as it's not a raised or enclosed shower - a half screen so water still spreads a little) no wood for burner as described in the book, just a full tray of ash, and a shower that leaked pretty significantly where the head meets the hose. Some sort of small lamp in the small bunk-bed room would be helpful too.
