KAMA CENTRAL PARK

I don’t know what these poor reviews are on about, this was an entirely excellent visit, especially for a hostel. ROOM (Room 101, Bed B): CLEANLINESS- nothing on walls or floors, clean throughout FUNCTIONALITY- everything operated as it should- in pod; power, air circulation, and lighting, as well as in room; air conditioning (even got cold enough to make preferred temp of 66°f me to need a blanket!), water, toilet, light dimmers for the room and bathroom were all functional. SECURITY- Room entry is based on a tap to open keycard- nice. Lockers; approximately 30cm x 30cm x 25cm, bring your own lock- none are provided, 6 total available in this 4 bed room SIZE- room is approximately 3.5m x 3m and houses four pods (2 bunks), plus en suite bathroom AMENITIES- included in the room is shampoo and body wash, towel, linens and blanket, and an approximately 10cm thick mattress THINGS TO NOTE: Never trust roommates- use lockers or front desk storage, this is true for all hostels No elevator- this is a very old building in NYC- they’re all walkups Bring your own padlock for the in-room lockers Kind staff Lots of paint layers that make the walls look sort of messy- it’s an old building- this does NOT make it dirty Kitchen is in the basement- I did not use it so I cannot comment further Outdoor patio is lovely and welcome On-site restaurant- I only looked inside and did not eat there so I cannot comment further than to say that it was clean I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it, especially to someone new to hosteling- it feels safe and secure and the deluxe pods give a boost to that feeling. I am attempting to add photos, however, no matter the format or browser, upload errors abound.

I was in 10 person room. Staff kept things clean. AC worked great. I liked having the privacy of the capsule. I didn't mind the walk to the 5th floor. Someone's shoes stunk up the room :( but not Kama's fault

Highly recommended

Although I had no issue with my bed/sleeping area, I was appalled by the uncleanliness of the public area - not a single table was clean and the floor needed sweeping; the shower stall trap was filled with hair. In a post Covid world, very off putting.
