Saint Seurin Church
The very first church in Le Porge, dating back to the Middle Ages, was most likely located at a place called Gleyze-Vieille (on Avenue de l'Océan).
The current building stands on the site of the former 14th-century church, as evidenced by certain parts still visible inside. This first church, which had become too small to accommodate all the town’s residents, was rebuilt in 1892, following a decision passed by the town council in 1890.
Designed in the Neo-Gothic style, it was inaugurated on July 31, 1893, and dedicated to Saint Seurin, patron saint of the parish and bishop of Bordeaux in the 5th century.
The Church of Le Porge is a vibrant place, open to the public, and located on the Way of St. James: pilgrims can mark their point of origin on a world map.
