The Lodge is the former gatehouse to Spital House estate. It is all on one level and is bordered by woods on two sides and a large fully enclosed garden to the rear. There is an abundance of wildlife to see from the cottage and the fields to the rear have sheep, lambs and cows throughout the rear.

Lovely garden, trees and fields good parking too at the side of the Lodge. We loved it!

The accommodation was absolutely brilliant for us French as it corresponded to what we wanted to see of the UK: colour, décor, fabric, green surroundings, sheep, peace and quiet, close to the sea .... Highly recommended for those looking for a complete change of scenery.

Easy to find good location for exploring the Boarders nice and quiet we thought it was great

Quiet and peaceful. Property exactly as advertised with lovely small garden area and small field amongst trees out the back, with deer spotted one morning. Very clean, owner had thought of everything from small torches in drawers to cleaning materials in cupboards and spare lightbulbs if required. Property very warm, and within about 30-40 minutes drive of nearby Northumberland and Scottish Border places of interest to visit. Property only 2 miles over the Border from England. Welcome pack of biscuits, cakes and honey a nice touch and a pint of milk in the fridge. Tea, sugar and coffee pods available also if required. Visitor information available in Lodge and visitor book to leave your reviews.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lodge. Liz was a fantastic host and answered all of our questions promptly. The cottage was comfortable and cozy, and everything was as described in the listing. The setting is peaceful, surrounded by pastures full of sheep and beautiful gardens. There were several historical places of interest within short drives, and we easily managed day trips to Edinburgh and Loch Lomond. Highly recommend a stay here.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Lodge. Beds were excellent and we enjoyed a good night’s sleep. Parking was easy. Liz was very responsive to any questions we had. And the lounge was a perfect place to relax after a day out. We were only 2 but 4 people would be very comfortable. Jean

Fantastic stay in this beautiful lodge. The little gate house building was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Good location to get to the coast. Berwick upon Tweed was 10mins away and we went to Edinburgh on the train from there. Host came to say hi and pass on her info if we needed her but we were then left alone. Beautiful short break.

Everything there you need for a stay, everything works as it should. The fence is painted with tar so it smells not good if you sit outside. Inside theres a lot of room freshener which you have to love otherwise its uncomfortable. The WLAN was very good. Its a little bit old fashioned but clean and working. We felt a little bit disturbed by the loud lawn tractor that provided bad air when we were having breakfast on the terrace. A good point for starting to activities all aound the sorrounding area if you travel by car.

The owners of this property have thought of everything someone might need for a fantastic stay. We wanted a quiet getaway, which we got - and thoroughly enjoyed but we both commented that the location of the lodge is perfect for exploring the local area too. We spent 4 nights at the Lodge and really enjoyed it. The lodge is in a great location ideal for a quiet time away but still close to towns. everything was nice and clean and well equipped. Liz our host was very helpful with good communication from the start

This is the second time my daughter and little granddaughter and me stayed at The Lodge. My other daughter and 2 grown up grandchildren one of who was up home from her job in London for a few days, came to visit us and my daughter loved it so is going to try to book for her and her husband if available later in the year. Extremely easy check in process and the property was as per the pictures and description. If anything the on line listing does not do the grounds justice. Very beautiful location. Convenient to Berwick for supermarkets / dining out and ….. Gregg’s. Originally a Yorkshire boy moved to Canada so I do miss my Gregg’s lol. Plenty to do - holy island and the causeway, farne island boat trip, bamburgh castle, alnwick gardens, norham castle, cheswick beach, embleton beach, Mary queen Scott’s museum in jedburgh to name a few that we crammed into 8 days. If / when I return to the UK again this would be my number one choice to stay
