Welcome to Chicory Lake House - a waterfront family escape in the heart of Door County!
Our fully remodeled Kangaroo Lakefront vacation home is adjacent to the historic Kangaroo Lake causeway. Nestled among the reeds and mature trees on Kangaroo Lake's shoreline and surrounded by calming waters and gorgeous lake views, Chicory Lake House is the perfect Door County retreat. Wake up to direct views of the lake and spend evenings cozying up to a roaring lakeside bonfire. Relax on our lakeside deck and patio while watching Mergansers swim near our shore. Toss in a line to fish from the pier, or explore the lake on the provided kayaks and paddle boards. Walk across the road to enjoy a local favorite - Coyote Roadhouse, or take the short drive to all the towns that make Door County a world-class vacation destination. With all three bedrooms on one level, a gas fireplace, a large yard for outdoor games, and a game room complete with bumper pool and shuffleboard, Chicory Lake House is the perfect place to make memories for all ages and seasons.

Our family stays in multiple vacation rentals a year, and we know firsthand how the cleanliness of a rental can make or break your vacation. Unlike most vacation rentals, at Chicory Lake House, we wash/change out all duvet covers, living room throw blankets, and living room throw pillow covers between every guest, in addition to all the typical bed sheets and pillowcases. We take cleaning very seriously, and we don't cut corners. Our cleaning process is extremely extensive because we know that your relaxation and enjoyment depend on it. Our home is family-managed and cared for because we believe you deserve the highest level of guest experience, cleanliness, and peace of mind during your vacation.
OUR HOME:
•Located directly on Kangaroo Lake – one of the most highly sought-after locations in Door County.
•Six guests maximum
•Three bedrooms (Queen, Queen, Two Twins)
•Large dining table with seating for six guests with additional breakfast bar seating.
•Two full baths (Our primary ensuite bath has a luxury shower and double vanity. The full bath in the hallway has a shower over tub combination.)
•Lakeside game room with glass overhead door for easy indoor/outdoor recreation.
•Indoor gas fireplace
•Central heating and air conditioning (electric baseboard heat only in the game room)
•Washer and dryer (free)
•Five Roku smart TVs (One in each bedroom, one in the living room, and one in the game room). We offer a complimentary streaming app for live, local television "cable channels," and sports.
•Wi-Fi, Strong enough to support Zoom meetings (due to the rural nature of Door County, Wi-Fi and cell phone coverage and service can vary)
•Record player and vinyl music library
•Children's books, toys, and games
•Semi-circle, pull-through driveway with room for three vehicles (no garage access for vehicles)
•No Pets, firearms, smoking, tobacco, or vaping allowed on the property.
SLEEPING ACCOMMODATIONS:
•Primary Lakeside Bedroom: You'll love the lakeside primary bedroom with a queen-sized bed, Roku TV, and an ensuite bathroom. This bedroom has a patio slider allowing you to access the lakeside deck to drink your morning coffee or have an evening glass of wine. Our fully remodeled ensuite bath has dual vanities and a luxurious walk-in, tiled shower.
•Second Lakeside Bedroom: Enjoy the second lakeside bedroom with a queen bed, room-darkening shades, a closet, and a Roku TV.
•Twin Bedroom: The small, but adorable, "twin room" has two twin beds, room-darkening shades, a closet, and a Roku TV.
BATHROOMS:
•Our primary ensuite full bathroom has a dual vanity and luxurious, tiled walk-in shower with a classic, handheld and rain showerheads. Bath towels and a hair dryer are provided.
•The remodeled hall bathroom has a modern tub/shower combination and a single vanity. Full-sized laundry machines are also found in the hall bathroom.
KITCHEN AMENITIES:
Our modern kitchen is fully equipped and open to the main living space. Provided amenities include:
•Refrigerator/Freezer with ice maker.
•Dishwasher
•Microwave, flat-top electric stove, oven, toaster, crock pot, and blender.
•Traditional coffee maker/Keurig combination, coffee bean grinder, and tea kettle.
•Cookware, dishes, utensils, glassware, wine glasses, and additional barware.
•Kitchen towels, hot pads, baking sheets, and BBQ utensils.

•Private (non-shared) lake access.
•Pier (4-5 feet deep at the end of the dock). Our pier is typically installed from late May through mid-October (weather dependent).
•Large bonfire pit with six Adirondack chairs and complimentary firewood (two bundles).
•Lakeside Trex deck and flagstone patio
•Patio table with six chairs
•Gas grill with complimentary propane provided
•Two outdoor lounge chairs & pads (seasonal)
•Kayaks provided (9): six adult-sized and three youth-sized
•Paddle boards provided (3): Two adult-sized and one youth-sized.
•Access to outdoor shed, which contains: Life jackets, outdoor games & activities - Corn hole, Ladder golf, Football, Frisbee, 2 fishing poles with a small tackle box, and marshmallow forks.

ChicoryDoorCounty is run by our family, and we truly care about your experience while staying with us. Please let us know if there's anything we can do to help you have a terrific Door County getaway. Many of the requirements in our house rules are dictated by our local village’s short-term rental ordinance and are beyond our control. Our standard check-in time is 4:00 p.m., and our standard check-out time is 10:00 a.m. Furniture and decor may differ from the photos, as we constantly strive to maintain the comfort, quality, and cleanliness of our home's furnishings.
We require a signed rental agreement and a $300 credit card security deposit hold for all bookings. To finalize your reservation, we ask that you read and sign the agreement before your free cancellation period expires.

Like most locations on our narrow peninsula, guests should expect some road noise. The sounds of outdoor dining may also be heard when staying at our home. Many of our guests enjoy our proximity to both the causeway and this local restaurant for dining and recreating on the lake. Guests planning to bring a boat must obtain permission before booking. No jet skis allowed.

We have stayed at many rental properties and for several years we even shared our lake home as a vrbo property, so we are familiar with what makes a place exceptional. The Chicory Lake House is one such place. Jen & Brian are excellent hosts who have thought of everything guests would need or want for a perfect vacation. The house is charming, beautifully decorated, and incredibly clean. Everything worked perfectly. The bathroom showers were fantastic and the beds and linens were wonderful - so important when you're traveling. The hand written note and welcome gift upon arrival were a special touch. The garage game room is an awesome addition with toys & games for kids of all ages - a really thoughtful use of space for families. The outdoor setting is very nicely situated with a large firepit and spacious yard. Since our stay was during the July 4th holiday, we were treated to fireworks over the lake. It was truly a lovely vacation and we will definitely return. Five stars is not enough to give this property and its owners. Thanks Brian & Jen!

This property was perfect for our granddaughter's first vacation! The house was very clean and well stocked for adults as well as for an infant. Jennifer was excellent at staying in touch and very helpful as this was our first time using VRBO. We loved having the additional activities for the times when we were not exploring the towns. We will definitely be staying with them again!

Our family had a great time during our stay. The house is very nice and in a great location right on Kangaroo Lake. It's convenient to get to all of the cities from here. I would definitely recommend to others.

Absolutely stunning! Our family had a variety of options of activities right in our back yard--it was very convenient with kids. We had easy access to main roads with hip restaurants and trails, everything we would need in our weekend stay. Overall, such a quality home with easy accessibility to the wonders of Door Couny!
