I was incredibly disappointed with my stay. This rental isn’t very guest friendly. First, we had to drive ten minutes to pick up the parking pass. And the biggest disappointment was that a few hours before we were due to check in, we received a note from the host informing that the pool had been closed earlier in the week due to equipment failure caused by rain. They had no idea when it would reopen. It ended up being closed the entire week.I had dozens of options, but chose this one because the listing said the property had a pool. I even relayed our desire to swim in my introduction email. I’d read a previous guest’s entry saying the pool seemed old and it’s now clear that is true. None of the other pools in the area were closed. In a location where sharks are frequently seen, (everyone had to leave the water on our first day because the guard saw two sharks 10 yards from shore), temperatures routinely reach over 90, and high tide usually swallows the beach by midafternoon—a pool is essential.Ideally we would have been able to cancel or at least receive a partial refund, but neither option was extended. I feel like I was duped and wish we’d opted for a hotel instead.Additionally, as another guest observed, this property while nicely decorated, smells like urine. We tried to use the patios and ran into lots of mosquitoes. The beach equipment is a nice thought, but most of it is broken. On the plus side, the unit is only a seven minute walk to the beach.
