The property is very cosy and tastefully decorated and extremely well equipped, we didn’t feel it was missing anything. The pictures do not do the place justice it’s much better. The bed in the main bedroom was so comfortable I wanted to take it home! It is in an extremely quiet location perfect if you are looking for a quiet getaway. It is also not too far to walk into town where there a few shops pubs and takeaways, but be warned the hill back up is quite steep.

My sister in law reported that the double bed in the bedroom over looking the street was extremely squeaky although she felt the mattress was very comfortable

Easier to say what we did not like as we loved Compass Cottage - more than a home from home.. Wooler is a super village with plenty of eateries & walking options. The cottage backs on to a dog friendly park with football goals. A big winner! Despite that, still a quiet location, and a sun trap both front & back, ideal for chilling out with a good book. One minor issue with oven settings & Paul was straight the phone to sort. We booked late but had a welcome pack on arrival & the cottage was immaculate despite others leaving hours before. Super comfy beds, cosy sofas & chairs, dining table, outside seating, all kitchen amenities, and lots of convenient & helpful things that we would never have thought about, all there! And having guest accounts set up on Netflix & Amazon was another welcome touch.

Not that we did not like but the only things missing that would have made this the best ever stay - my partner loves a long soak in the bath or a hot tub after a day walking. But the shower is great and she survived! Compass Cottage is up a hill - not a problem for us but could be for anybody with mobility issues. And for the life of me, among the multitude of necessities I could not find any dish cloths - but guess what, we managed to sort it. Note that for trips to the coast you are looking at 20-30 minute drives. But obviously worth it! An honest first impression on Booking.com was that we thought the cottage looked tired and a little old fashioned in decor, etc. In person you realise it is the character of the building & its rooms, with detailed touches to mark its past which are explained in the welcome book. They truly thought of everything! Thank you!
