About this apartment rental

Welcome to one of the oldest courtyard ensembles in Quedlinburg – our “Himmlischer Hof”. Dating back to 1477, this remarkable heritage property invites you to experience authentic timber-framed architecture in the heart of a romantic UNESCO World Heritage town.

Our charming “Abendrot” holiday apartment for 2–3 guests is the perfect retreat for a memorable stay in Quedlinburg. Spanning 55 m², it offers plenty of space in one of the city’s oldest preserved historic buildings. Lovingly restored using eco-friendly and heritage-approved materials, the apartment features clay plaster and natural elements that create a uniquely healthy indoor climate - many guests say they sleep like in heaven.

Located on the first floor and accessed via a wide historic wooden staircase, this cozy gem delights with its atmosphere and character. In the evening, you can watch the sky glow in warm red tones at the end of the street through the charming mullioned windows - this magical view inspired the name “Abendrot.” Beautifully restored 200-year-old wooden floors throughout the apartment complete the authentic heritage experience.

The apartment features a cozy living room with a wood-burning stove, books, TV, games, radio, and a sofa bed. The modern kitchen with dining area is fully equipped with oven, ceramic hob, extractor hood, dishwasher, refrigerator, coffee machine, toaster, kettle, and more. The bedroom offers a French double bed (140 × 200 cm). The bathroom includes a walk-in shower, underfloor heating, historic-style tiles, and a hairdryer. A small storage room provides space for luggage.

A private parking space (2–5 minutes walking distance, fee applies) is available - an exceptional advantage in Quedlinburg’s historic old town. Freshly made beds, soft towels, firewood, local information, and a small welcome gift are all provided to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay.

The experience is completed by our romantic shared courtyard, featuring a large dining table, cozy seating, hammocks, and a barbecue - an inviting oasis surrounded by historic timber-framed buildings, perfect for relaxing outdoors.

The Himmlischer Hof itself has been lovingly restored by our family over many years, preserving nearly 550 years of history while combining it with modern comfort. Natural materials and careful craftsmanship define every detail - each door is unique, restored with traditional techniques and set within ecological clay walls.

In addition to Abendrot, two further stylish apartments are available in the house: Sonnenschein (for up to 4 guests) and Morgenglanz. All apartments combine historic charm with modern comfort, enhanced by a curated mix of antiques and contemporary design.

The surrounding Harz Mountains offer year-round experiences. In summer, enjoy hiking, cycling, scenic steam train rides, and nearby lakes for swimming and water sports such as SUP, sailing, and canoeing at Concordia Lake. In winter, Friedrichsbrunn (20 minutes) is perfect for sledding and cross-country skiing, while the Wurmberg ski area (45 minutes) offers skiing, snowboarding, and winter fun, along with ice skating in Braunlage and Schierke.

Planning a family gathering or special celebration? The Himmlischer Hof accommodates 12+ guests across all apartments, with generous shared spaces. The courtyard can host events for up to 30 people when all units are booked together, creating a truly unique setting.

For more details, please see the additional information or visit our website - we would be delighted to welcome you.

We loved staying here. The space was very comfortable, private, and the courtyard was a great spot to chill at the end of each day. The building is listed in the Fachwerk Museum in Quedlinburg (worth visiting if you want to understand how such places were built historically) as having been constructed in 1485! The hosts (who live in the building) were very kind and communicative.
