The Barracks Cochin

Breakfast was served in our room . There was plenty of space and the spread provided was plentiful and delicious . It was very much local style but excellent. Naresh did everything possible to make our stay very comfortable, the hotel is a period property and so some may find the decor quite dated , but we found that to be part of the charm . The bathroom was huge with a superb shower . It was fantastic value for money .

Spacious and comfy room. Aircon and fans were good. Vintage furniture is lovely. Breakfast was lovely - especially the coconut pancake! We'd stay again. Bed very big and comfy. Host organised a tuk tuk tour for us for a good price.

Maybe a little overpriced relative to other options. Would liked to have paid with card instead of wad of cash. Taxes and overheads added a lot.

The hotel was perfectly placed in Fort Kochi near all the local attractions. Naresh was the perfect host and could not have been more accommodating. Breakfast was prepared fresh every morning and delivered to our room which was a great introduction to Indian cuisine. Naresh also organised a house boat trip for us including taxi to Allaputza backwaters which was an incredible day. It felt more like a home stay than being in a hotel. Highly recommend. I think the Barracks were Portuguese quarters which must have been for senior ranks as the rooms were very spacious and had a history which was a really nice way to understand the various influences that have formed Kochis culture.
