About this cottage rental
The Fair Oaks Farmhouse is nestled among 4 acres of lush, mature trees in the heart of Lafayette, LA, located just a mile from Ochsner Lafayette General Hospital and a mile from Moncus Park. In less than 10 minutes, you can be listening to live music downtown or shopping in River Ranch. There is no other home like it where you get all the amenities of city life with all the relaxation of the country. It's private setting and ample parking make it the perfect spot for wedding party weekends.
The space
The entire house is packed with windows letting natural light hit the heart of pine floors at all hours of the day. The kitchen is loaded with premium finishes including a SubZero refrigerator and Wolf range. There are place settings for 8 people, pots and pans, basic cooking utensils, and a full size coffee maker. The kitchen opens up to the living area with ample seating around a Sony Smart TV. The dining room table seats 8.
On the mid-level, you will find a full bath with double vanities and a clawfoot tub, along with the laundry room next to it which houses a huge commercial grade MayTag washer and dryer. At the top of the stairs are the two bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has king size platform bed, full size dresser, and a walk-in closet adorned with antique doors. Bedroom 2 is huge and has a queen size bed, (2) twin beds, and a twin day bed with a twin sized trundle! There is ample room for a blow up mattress or two! At this time, we have one queen size blow up mattress. Up the next few steps is the second full bath with shower and double vanities.
Decorated with a blend of antique doors, modern finishes, ship lap, and pine floors - this house is so cozy and unique. Absolutely the most private setting you can get in Lafayette, LA - all while being a stone's throw from everything you need.

The perfect little modern farmhouse! 10 minutes from Festival International, but felt like a fairytale. We couldn't have asked for more! Amazing secluded spot in a residential neighborhood. The best of a central location while feeling miles away. Host was attentive and kind.

I was disappointed with the lack of transparency over billing. Originally booked for 7 nights and then modified within time to 3 nights. VRBO sent receipt showing the rental cost/cleaning/service charges did not change from the original booking even though duration much reduced. Then there was a refund, without showing how this was calculated, from the homeowner. I suspect I was overcharged.
The house was not available at check-in time as the cleaning had not been completed. No toilet on ground floor. Loose bricks at main door entrance. First bathroom had two sinks nether plugs worked correctly. Very large bedrooms with no furniture.
All in all cannot recommend.
