About this house rental

A five-bedroom family home in a quiet neighborhood west of Durango, Colorado. Sleeps 8 across nine beds (three baths). A fully renovated basement game room with foosball table. Mountain views. Purgatory Resort is 25 minutes north. Durango is a year-round destination — this home is set up for both seasons.

*Please note that our home does not have centralized A/C, but we do have portable cooling.

THE SPACE
Bedroom 1 is the group room: two doubles, a single, and a bunk bed — five sleep spots. Bedroom 2 is a king. Bedrooms 3 and 5 are queens. Bedroom 4 is a double. Three full baths. The basement game room foosball, and a second living area is the reason families rebook.

WINTER SKI ACCESS
Purgatory Resort is 25 minutes north — 1,635 skiable acres, part of the Power Pass family. Purgatory is one of Colorado's most affordable full-mountain ski experiences: lift tickets, lift lines, and lodging costs run dramatically lower than the I-70 corridor resorts. Terrain is genuinely good — 105 trails, 12 lifts, 2,000-plus vertical feet. Beginner and intermediate skiers rarely notice a difference from Vail or Keystone; advanced skiers get short lines and unpressured tree skiing.

POLAR EXPRESS
The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad runs the Polar Express holiday train in late November and December — pajamas, hot chocolate, and a live reading of the book. Book early; it sells out annually. Even for adults, the winter railroad ride up to Silverton through the Animas Canyon is one of Colorado's better winter day-trips.

THE LOCATION
Durango is a mountain town in La Plata County at approximately 6,500 ft — a comfortable elevation with mild winters compared to the I-70 resorts. Historic downtown, a real restaurant scene, and access to the San Juans in every direction. Durango-La Plata County Airport (DRO) is 30 minutes; Albuquerque is 3.5 hours south.

GILSON CONCIERGE
Gilson Property Group is a professional hospitality team, not an individual host. The Gilson guest portal handles ID verification, access details, and optional add-ons before arrival — lift tickets, ski and snowboard rentals delivered to the door, private chef service, grocery pre-stock, airport transfers, and mid-stay housekeeping. We respond fast through the listing messenger.

GUEST ACCESS
Entry is via smart lock with a code delivered through the Gilson guest portal before arrival. Exclusive access to the entire home, basement game room, and backyard. Ample on-site parking available.

MANAGEMENT
Gilson Property Group is a professional hospitality team, not an individual host. Concierge add-ons include lift tickets, ski and snowboard rentals, Polar Express reservations, restaurant reservations, grocery pre-stock, and mid-stay housekeeping.

BEFORE YOU BOOK — WINTER NOTES
Primary renter must be 25 or older. Damage protection replaces the traditional security deposit, so there is no hold placed on your card. It is offered at checkout and may be declined; guests who decline accept responsibility for any damage claims.

No pets. Durango sits at approximately 6,500 ft — no altitude adjustment typically required. Purgatory access from the neighborhood is on plowed highway; 4WD is helpful but not strictly required in most conditions. Book the Polar Express early if you are traveling in late November through December — it fills up months in advance.

We do vacation rentals often, and expect it to be well maintained and clean. House number not visible at night. Bear proof trash bin latch is broken. Need to replace handrail for the front steps we had some older folks in the group that had trouble, barking dog next door, No closet in Master BR?, shower curtains were grossly mildewed, knobs missing in the kitchen, patio door handle broken, very few hangers ( host sent more), Downstairs bathroom plumbing needs overhaul only cold water in left sink, bathtub shower freezing or scalding, floors in downstairs BR and kitchen need mopping, bathtub is moldy and dirty. lightbulbs out in several rooms, gray fabric chairs in kitchen are very dirty..
