About this house rental

An idyllic, secluded location away from the Ringstrasse: views of Mount Hekla, the mountains, and pastures with sheep and horses—on our Skinnhufa farm (130 hectares).
Bjalli (up to 4 people) is cozy and comfortably furnished with a spacious living area and unobstructed views of the countryside. On the first floor is a double bedroom (or 2 single beds upon request). The sleeping loft with 2 single beds is accessible via a Sambat staircase. The kitchenette features 2 electric hot plates, a microwave, toaster, electric kettle, refrigerator, and a French press for coffee. Bathroom with toilet and shower.
Ideally located as a starting point for day trips to all attractions in Southern Iceland; an information folder awaits you in the house. We’re also happy to provide advice and assistance on-site! And in winter, with a little luck, you can watch the Northern Lights.
Excursion destinations, for example: Geysir, Gullfoss, Thingvellir, Skógar Waterfall & Museum, Vik (black sand beach) & Dyrhólaey (bird cliffs). Or take the ferry to the Westman Islands! Blue Lagoon and coastal road; Reykjavik is 80 km away. In summer: take the Highland Bus or a taxi to Landmannalaugar in the highlands to visit the hot springs.
Shops and swimming pools in Hella and Selfoss, as well as Fontana Spa and the Secret Lagoon, are easily accessible.
There’s an excellent horseback riding center 7 km from the house: riding lessons for beginners and day trips for experienced riders; in summer: www.herridarholl.is
Birdwatching: from May through the end of July, you can observe over 20 species of migratory birds nesting. Feel free to explore our 130 hectares along trails and cross-country, and say hello to our horses!

This was a remote cozy cottage with a genuine rustic and traditional feel. Privacy with spectacular views and isolated enough to get a look at the northern lights. We stayed for a week and it was exactly what we wanted, didn’t take into consideration how much driving it would be to and from the city but it was an incredible experience and extraordinary scenery.

It was a peaceful place in the middle of the countryside which was just what I wanted to write a book.

We recently stayed at “Bjalli, house on a slope with a view of Hekla volcano” and had a wonderful experience. The house is super cute, cozy, and well-appointed with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The view of Hekla volcano from the house is simply breathtaking, adding a unique charm to the entire experience. Maja, our host, was incredibly nice and welcoming. She went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed and provided excellent recommendations for exploring the local area. Her warmth and hospitality made our stay even more enjoyable. We highly recommend this delightful spot for anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Iceland with a wonderful host.

Fantastic stay. The views were miles long. Sunrise and sunsets were 35mm film picturesque and absolutely spectacular. We actually caught the aurora borealis right outside our beautiful cabin. Maja (the owner who also happens to be a famous artist), her husband and their beautiful doggo (named Skinna) are just the perfect hosts that one could hope for. Our children said: "I think we enjoyed this vacation the most".. Can't say enough good things about this place. The feel of the countryside, the open, rolling meadows and the errant sheep/horse make it magical. Maja makes the effort to ensure that one's stay is extra comfortable. Highly highly recommended.
