Tranquil and spacious gîte with own pool near market town

Arrival - we found the property with no issues. Property zip code took us straight there. Bedlinen and bathrooms were clean. Flies were a problem, mushroom growing in the shower, tiles in shower need updating and replacing, door latch plates were all loose (made doors difficult to close), we didn't manage to get the tv working at all, light fittings in the kitchen were hanging dangerously from the ceiling, oven very dirty and difficult to light (think the gas jets needed a clean - i gave up), bbq had not been cleaned from previous person with rib bones left on the floor and cigarettes in the bbq, garden area had not been swept with nut shells everywhere, pool needed updating with rotten wood needing to be replaced. It rained (not a problem) however the roof leaked terribly in the dining area - we used pots, pans and cups to catch the leaks. Host seemed nice and friendly, he's a chef and offers to cook. However we were unable to find him to report problems - we tried twice and decided we were not going to waste our holiday waiting around. The house was a little too remote for our group, with the neighbours complaining that we played music (not loud!) as we cooked food at 6pm (not late!). All attractions that we visited were approximately 45 mins to an hour away. All in all the property could be amazing but needs tlc. room sizes are great and furniture was right for a rental.
