My recent stay at Hotel Sonar Bangla Mayapur exceeded expectations on every front. The accommodations are nothing short of immaculate; the rooms are spotlessly clean, wonderfully maintained, and thoughtfully designed to offer a true sanctuary for relaxation. Gastronomy is another standout feature here. The restaurant consistently delivers high-quality meals, and the breakfast spread deserves a special mention for its exceptional taste and variety. However, what truly elevates this property is the staff. The hospitality is attentive, warm, and highly professional, ensuring every guest feels valued. Set against a beautiful backdrop with top-notch venue facilities, it is an ideal retreat for families, quiet getaways, or even grand events like destination weddings. While the property itself is a haven, the logistics of reaching and leaving it are a glaring failure, and a surprisingly apathetic management exacerbates this problem. For guests arriving by bus, the struggle begins the moment they drop you off on the highway. The resort is located nearly a kilometre (about 900 m) away from this drop-off point, and you will quickly discover that there are absolutely no local vehicles or rickshaws waiting to take you the rest of the way. To make matters worse, roughly 70% (about 600 metres) of this connecting road remains completely broken and unpaved. Whether you are forced to drag your luggage on foot or somehow manage to secure a rare ride, it is a bone-jarring, intensely jerky arrival experience. Disappointingly, the hotel seems entirely unbothered by this massive inconvenience, offering no proactive shuttle service or assistance to bridge the gap for their guests. Furthermore, this extreme seclusion turns into a costly trap for anyone without a personal vehicle. Because you are effectively stranded and forced to rely on the hotel to arrange transit to the Mayapur Mandir, you are subjected to a steep, unavoidable premium. A standard local ride typically costs a modest ₹200 to ₹250 each way. However, booking through the resort immediately doubles the rate to an exorbitant ₹400 one-way (₹800 round trip). For a property of this calibre, this monopolistic markup transforms what should be an affordable local commute into a heavy, frustrating expense.

Property is Good but for our group booking, on last day no hot water was available. Nexus with local tottos( e rickshaws) charging exorbitant rates which should not be left to the customers, and it should be facilitated by the property only

For the group, Booking, electricity for catering and decoration is dependent on the diesel generator set, which is very much against the environmental concerns. Rather than this electricity meter for use as per the services be provided so that customer does not have to pay exorbitant charges of diesel generator set at ₹900 per hour, moreover, for our separate booking ID HSBMY0014368, AND REFERENCE ID6915709318 IN RESPECT OF BOOKING OF 4 ROOMS FROM 20TH NOVEMBER TO 21ST NOVEMBER, WE WERE TOLD THAT OUR BOOKING HAS BEEN CANCELLED BY THE BOOKING.COM. ON THE PORTAL, IT WAS SHOWING THE ACTIVE BOOKING, BUT in spite of showing to the booking details at the reception, they didn’t receive any confirmation from the Booking.com. Moreover, I also sent a couple of messages to the booking.com but no response was received. There is no provision by Booking.com to contact telephonically, so that such inconvenience can be addressed. This resulted in fresh Booking by me as the reception at Mayapur sonar Bangla adamant that as they have not received any response from Booking.com, they can’t help. Again reiterated that the portal was showing it as active Booking and still it is showing as a completed trip.
