Back Packers on Roids!!

Great location, plenty of parking around. Staff were friendly at check in and throughout our stay. Our room, showers and toilets were really clean. Didnt need for anything. Miss Lucy's was a lovely added extra with good drinks, food and staff. Shared bathroom isn't like a B&B with one between many, more like a fancy glampsite. Didnt have to cue and clean as a whistle. We have booked to stay again in July.

Need more pegs in queen rooms and shower cubicles. 2 more in queen rooms and 1 more in shower would have been perfect.

it was ok, I enjoyed lylo christchurh airport much much more..

Its ok, restaurant food at Lucy's was just average but a bit on the expensive side

Kitchen area a bit small and it closes off at a certain time, hence I couldnt stay down use it and sit down to do some work

It’s nice but it doesn’t match with its price range

It’s very modern and good location

The room doesn’t have a window and if you want to close the privacy door on your bed you can’t breathe event with that tiny fan that’s built in which is more about the noise than its power. I left and went to Haka house instead.

Great hostel

This is a great hostel with everything you need. Great laundry facilities, a restaurant, places to cook, fridges etc. We stayed in a private room which was lovely and had everything we needed. The hostel also have Happy Travel agents at a desk who are very helpful and locals who recommend tours or activities honestly, not trying to sell you everything. The location is also great, within a 15 minute walk of the CBD and queen street. We would absolutely recommend this hostel.

Some negatives were that the bed is incredibly soft and can be uncomfortable to sleep on. The pillows are absolutely awful in my opinion and definitely need updating.

Great clean place to relax and chill in peace.

Dope joint - last minute booking it was the perfect spot before take off. Chill, respectful staff and guests. The English guy and the Girl from Spain with a butterfly on her arm at the travel agency had great energy and attitude. Merci beaucoup. I appreciate the kitchen too 🥰

Good location but no natural light in our room!

It was a pretty good location. We liked Miss Lucy’s as well. Good to get a quick dinner there.

We paid quite a lot for an ensuite private room here but it had no window or natural light?! I find that nuts that hotels think it’s acceptable to assign rooms with no light and not let you know. Also, despite putting the sign out that we wanted our room cleaned, it never was - in four nights!

Would stay again

I liked the little pods for privacy, each pod had its own charging port, light and mini fan. Good size kitchen and big bathrooms that were very clean.

Lack of communal area - there was tables by the kitchen where people could sit and eat which were always super busy but apart from this the only communal area was the bar connected to the bottom of the hostel which almost felt like your was obliged to buy something to sit there.

Great vibes, great value!

The location was great and it was a very cool space. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pod rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable- I was pleasantly surprised that the lockers were so large.

Having no shampoo and body wash in the shower stalls was slightly inconvenient, but I can’t expect every hostel to have this feature, it is just a personal preference of mine.

Magnificent place with a great vibe that i will definitely make use of again in future

Everything about Lylo was spectecular. I Arrived past midnight at the Hostel and a Gentleman there assited me. Other guests were also super friendly and the location is also great. Will definitely stay there again. I also had an issue where I accidentally paid twice for my booking and the process to get refunded was handled very professionally by both Lylo management and Booking.com customer care staff

Different. Fun!

Didn't have breakfast there. Was a bit hard to find but maybe that was my fault, as I often get lost! It was mostly for young people, but thoughtful and quite a unique offering. I have never stayed in a place like this before. But would definitely go again!

Just a bit hard to find, Cook Street not so obvious. And there were not always staff around to check in and out, but she was very friendly and helpful when she was there. I was locked out of the room before check-out time, but she renewed my card OK.

Efficient check in, good value, helpful staff, nice room, communal areas need a refresher

We really appreciated the staff facilitating an early check in at 11:30 because we were very ill with a virus. We landed at 8 am and had planned to check bags and walk around till 3. The flexibility was so nice and unexpected. The en-suite room was clean and well laid out. Bed was very comfortable, nice temperature controls and plug ins for electronics. Lack of windows gets a bit weird but normally we would not have been in the room a lot.

This is truly a hostel, mostly young travelers, meaning the community areas get extremely heavy use. Reception area furniture and upstairs carpets are ready for replacement. We had a private room, so not an issue for us, but we didn’t want to pick up an additional virus or spread ours.

Well set up and good value for money pod style backpackers It was perfect for me for a short stay.

Great space,

Fantastic staff who were supportive kind and got stuff sorted. Lovely accommodation, clean, tidy, modern. Some great break out areas and sofa to be comfortable, Lovely activities on offer Hairdryer available, Multiple showers and toilets, Laundry available too - you get coins at the reception There are quiet times so you cna guarantee a good nights sleep, I ended up booking an additional night it was so lovely and well linked - you can get pick up location for tours a few minutes walk from here, and the inter city bus

Clean, comfortable and close to everything and excellent value for money!

This was an excellent place to stay. We had a private pod, which gave us all our space to chill out in when needed - perfect for me, my two teens and 7 year old. Facilities were excellent and so clean. Location was great, could walk most places or else buses and trains were so easy to use. Miss Lucy’s was convenient as well. Everyone was friendly and helpful. If high recommend Lylo especially for families, don’t be put off with it being a hostel. I’d definitely stay here again. Price was so reasonable too!

The stay was really comfortable and would definitely stay here again if i ever visit Auckland!

The location is about a 10-15 minutes away from the city centre and near to supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and amenities around, very easily accessible. The rooms were kept clean and the beds were comfortable for getting good nights sleep. There were many activities (at least one per day) to know more friends during the stay with Lylo. Particularly appreciated the privacy provided by the pods.

I did not have a good experience, as the room was much below my expectations.

The room was very small and was a like closed cubical box(pod) type with no window and no ventilator. Even basic accessories like table, chair, electric kettle etc were not there.

Will always stay here when I go to Auckland

Nice bathrooms with tons of stalls. Capsules and lockers were great. Free luggage storage for the day. Helpful and courteous staff. The restaurant that is attached and affiliated with is really good as well and you get 10% off when you show your room key. Love that the card key accesses whatever you need (locker, bathroom, room, door to the floor) so there’s no need to remember combinations or carry multiple keys or a bulky key.

Thoughtfully Managed Stay with Excellent Facilities

I had a great stay here! The hotel is exceptionally clean, well-managed, and thoughtfully designed. The facilities are complete and well-maintained. I especially appreciated the spacious kitchen, which made it easy to cook my own meals. The washing machine and dryer were powerful and efficient—the dryer worked particularly well. There are also plenty of group tours available, which is perfect for solo travelers looking to explore and meet others. Overall, you can tell this is a brand that’s run with care and attention to detail. Highly recommended!

Pretty good overall

The Lylo is a nice place to stay - it's I guess technically a hostel, but is pretty clean and quiet, and also seems like a new fitout. There was a pretty good mix of ages staying from what I saw and it seems like it's really trying to be a social sort of place to stay. Overall it's pretty good and the occupants/guests seemed pretty well-behaved/reasonable when I stayed.

Very minor complaints - the shower design is a bit strange as it's only a small lip that in theory stops water from exiting the shower and down into the toilet area. In practice I think water runs down the shower curtain a bit and so the entire bathroom floor does get a little wet. Not like full standing water wet, but splashes here and there. Annoying if you needed to re-enter to grab your stuff later though. Also the TV channels are just the standard, so nothing that exciting available.
