Today, the Opera House's full schedule and annual festivals in music and the arts continue to draw crowds to these spectacular structures and gardens. Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton, and Edale are just a few of the lovely towns and villages strewn around the area, and there are plenty of opportunities for hiking in the nearby harsh peaks to the north and pleasant hills and dales to the south.
