The place was clean and well kept. Beds were comfortable. Hot tub was close and convenient. We used the hot tub daily. Very close to Volcano National Park. Full kitchen (there are few dining options nearby). Secluded and off a gravel road. The towels had an off smell.

This rainforest retreat was exactly that. We felt like we were transported to another world in this beautiful rainforest. We loved hanging out under the pavilion by the fire and in the lovely, Hawaii home. The owners even let us check in a little early and provided s'mores to cook over the fire.

We had a wonderful stay at the property for our visit to Volcanoes Nationals Park. The location was perfect for visiting the national park and provided a very comfortable stay for my family of 6 adults. The property was exactly as advertised. We visited the national park during the day. We made smores at the outside fireplace and played board games at night. We enjoyed the hot tub on a rainy day and used the laundry to refresh our clothes for our 2 weeks stay in Hawaii (visiting 3 islands). The communication with the hosts was superior- they answered questions in advance, sent directions on the best road to enter the property and communicated all important details, and also had a book with information at the property. I highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to visit the National Park. My only caution to others is to not run in the neighborhood. We are a big family of runners and there are security dogs at many of the other properties. One such dog came out of the fence and followed my son and daughter in law on a run. This has nothing to do with the property but just mentioning for others to run at the national park and not in the neighborhood based on discussion and additional information about the dogs with a local.

Amazing accommodation and excellent hosts! Had everything we needed to feel comfortable for our family (crib and high chair for our 1 year old daughter) and close to all the attractions. The hot tub and outdoor fireplace were a nice touch in the chilly evenings. Thanks for the wonderful stay and accommodating the early check-in and late check-out!

The house is very cute and close to Volcano National park. We didn't have that much extra time, otherwise would have loved to enjoy the outdoor fire pit and hot tub while listening to the sounds of the jungle.

What a beautiful tropical property, hidden in a perfect location to visit Volcano National Park! We enjoyed our short visit immensely and found everything to be comfortable, convenient and most welcoming. We stopped at the Hilo Market and grocery store and stocked up for breakfasts and found the kitchen to be very well stocked. Communication with the owners was excellent- what more can you ask for?!

We stayed here for five nights on our honeymoon. It is only about fifteen minutes from Volcano National Park, and the property itself has many great amenities. We found it clean, beautiful, and private without being too isolated (it's only a couple minutes from the highway). Caleb and Christyn were great hosts --kind, communicative, and thoughtful. I highly recommend this Rainforest Retreat, and hope to return someday!

Loved this place! My son calls it the “jungle house” and it’s indeed a good place to be in nature! So peaceful, worth the drive for sure. Beds were comfortable, clean, and the hosts were quick to respond with any questions. We would absolutely come back!

The house is really nice, clean and updated and only 5 minutes to Volcano national park. You do have to drive through a dirt road to get to the house. The host is very responsive via text. Unfortunately our stay was cut short by the hurricane due to power outage. Host was very nice and refunded us one night of stay so we can move to a hotel.

The home was clean & nicely updated. We were surprised it was a rustic setting up in the mountain vs in a neighborhood. Also much cooler & wetter than expected but very nice and a different experience than what we are used to in Hawaii, we just embraced it and enjoyed Hawaii in a different way. Not for those who are expecting a sunny, beach experience.

Enjoyed at the amenities here - hot tub, pavilion, kitchen. Great for some quiet and cool nights while we explored the volcano area. Make sure to air the house daily, it can smell a bit damp with the high humidity every day, the host has air filters and other items to mitigate this issue.

We really appreciate the use of your property in December 2023. The home was as described and very clean. The road immediately to the house is rough; however, the van we rented was able to manage without difficulty. The outdoor fireplace was a real plus! Our family hopped islands from Oahu to Maui with a 2.5 day stopover on the Big Island. We absolutely loved the cottage nestled in the woods! It had everything we could ask for, most importantly, it had peace and tranquillity (much needed after 4 days at the Hilton Hawaiian Village)! Hosts were terrific! Left us wanting for nothing. Their cottage is lovely, incredibly well maintained, and beautifully appointed. We slept like rocks, cooked like kings, and relaxed like sloths. All while fitting in two cross island treks, a few hours at Richardson Beach, snorkeling with the mantas and, of course, touring Volcanoes National Park. Highly recommended!

When we planned our vacation for the big island, we wanted to focus on the Volcano National Park. The property offered a perfect retreat in a peaceful location conveniently located only 13 minutes from the Park entrance. The house had everything you could want- including a toddler cot, high chair, and stroller. We loved the whole experience and would highly recommend this property to everyone!

The home is lovely! The kitchen is well appointed with assorted sizes of pots, pans, and enough plates and cutlery that you don’t have to wash dishes after every meal. The beds were comfortable. The hosts were easy to communicate with and very responsive. The hot tub was perfect (not smelly at all). The separate pavilion area is great for entertaining some company. Two items that I think prospective renters should be aware of: 1. There is a lot of white. White cloth seats at the kitchen table, white rugs, light colored couch…While it’s beautiful, it’s a little difficult to stay on top of yourself, and others in your party, to ensure no stray chocolate or pasta sauce cause a stain. 2. The main floor in the house is large slabs of rock. It’s gorgeous it is uneven and could be challenging for those with mobility issues…think the very old and very young. Also, there is a sizeable height difference in the thresholds at the bedrooms that could be especially difficult for struggling walkers to navigate. Neither of those things cause me to rate this property less than 5 stars. We would return.

This was one of our top experiences staying at a vacation rental. The house was beautiful and private. The outdoor fireplace was a hit with the entire family. Christyn was very easy to communicate with if we ever had questions. The experience was amazing and I would recommend it for anyone looking to explore the big island.
