About this house rental

Summary:

Bring the whole family to this joyful townhouse for a fun-packed seaside getaway, whilst enjoying sweeping panoramas across Swanage bay. Sitting on a hill overlooking the town and beach, this holiday home is the perfect weekend or weekly getaway for large groups or families who want to be close to the beach and local attractions, and for those looking for homely, cosy, and modest accommodation with plenty of room.

The Space:

This homely house is set over 3 floors, and accommodates 10 guests in 4 bedrooms.

The ground floor brings you into the hallway with storage containing cushions for outside furniture and beach items for guest use during your stay. A staircase leads up to the kitchen and open-plan style dining lounge area — with a large table for mealtimes, and ample seating for chatting and relaxing after a long day.

The kitchen features a Belfast sink, range style oven, dishwasher, and coffee machine, and comes well-equipped with utensils, crockery, pots & pans — for guests who enjoy cooking before or after a day on the beach.

The lounge area has plenty of comfortable seating and an electric fire, perfect for the colder months. The whole area is ideal for sitting around together, enjoying the widescreen TV, whilst admiring the sights of Swanage out of the large bay window.

On the second floor is a laundry room with washing machine and the first pair of bedrooms. This includes a large kingsize bedroom with modern en-suite shower room and sea views. The second bedroom consists of two sets of bunk beds sleeping four and en-suite bath, perfect for younger guests in the party needing a wash after a day on the golden sands of Swanage beach!

On the top floor is a kingsize bedroom with ensuite shower room and breath-taking views of Swanage town, the beach, and the surrounding hills below. The second bedroom of this floor has a double bed - and completed with an ensuite shower room.

Outside seating at the front of the property includes a large table and chairs with cushions, for warm summer evenings.

Guest Access:

Most of the floors of this large Victorian townhouse.

The Neighborhood:

Swanage offers a selection of delis, cafes, pubs and restaurants for meals out if you fancy a lunchtime or night off cooking, or a traditionally cooked breakfast — all within walking distance of Dizzy Heights. Nearby are a fine selection of traditional pubs for a cheeky pint or glass of wine, where you can enjoy the local pub's entertainment or admire the views from a window table. The local fish and chips takeaways aren’t to be missed with fresh fish caught locally.

The quintessentially British seaside town of Swanage is a delight, with its sandy beach being one of Dorset County’s biggest attractions. The beach is a popular destination for generations of families returning every year, and for good reason. There's clean "Blue Flag" awarded waters, a Victorian promenade, amazing facilities for hire (including deck chairs, pedalos, kayaks, sun beds, and even beach huts) in addition to practical amenities such as lifeguard patrols, showers, and toilets — making this beach almost unbeatable.

Swanage Town is full of local charm and attractive architecture, and makes a wonderful base to explore Dorset’s other natural wonders and places of interest too. There’s a host of high street gift shops, clothing stores, grocery shops, cafés, ice cream parlours, and fish & chip takeaways — all of which are in addition to an array of pubs, bars and restaurants, accessible on foot from the house.

There’s always lots to do in the water, with paddleboarding, diving excursions, sailing, water-skiing, and windsurfing to name a few. Whilst on the promenade you can find amusements, arcades, mini golf and other fun activities for little ones.

Dorset is blessed with some of the UK’s most interesting coastal areas, including glorious sandy bays such as Swanage and Studland; and many rugged, wild and rocky shores too. To the south of Swanage is Durlston Country Park, a nature reserve renowned for being the gateway to the Jurassic Coast and World Heritage Coastline which runs west — including the famous Kimmeridge, Ludworth Cove, Man O’War and Durdle Door beaches, as well as the South West Coastal Path walking trail, and numerous climbing spots.

Getting Around:

Parking is challenging in residential areas in central Swanage, with more cars around than spaces allow. However, parking is free on the road outside the property.

Our house is close enough to the main Swanage Train Station (or a short taxi ride away) so if your aim is to just stay in Swanage, you can easily go without a car, catch a train, and explore the town on foot or rented bike.

If you do bring a car, you can easily access some other nearby beauty spots close by, such as the wonderful Studland Bay, and the Jurassic Coast.

There are also local buses which are fairly frequent during the summer months to get you around to other local areas.

Other Things to Note:

There is also a travel cot available for infants.

Please note: there are multiple stairs and stairwells at this property, including stairs up to the front door, and stairs up to three separate floors of the building.

We had a great stay at Dizzy Heights for a few days to celebrate my mum's 80th birthday. On arrival we'd been left, milk, bread, crumpets, butter & jams, and a bottle of Prosecco for my mum which was much appreciated. It's a lovely big house which fitted the 7 of us comfortably, the living area is a great size with views over Swanage towards the beach, and the kitchen is well equipped. The house is set out over 4 floors so quite a few stairs to climb. It's situated close to the town so well centred, but there is quite a big hill to walk up & down to reach (which my mum managed). We did have a few issues but the managing agents have been quick to respond and were very helpful. Thanks all.

The property was clean, tidy and very spacious. When we arrived, the lovely welcome pack was much appreciated, especially by those who had travelled furthest. Plus points: - Comfortable beds and bedding are well chosen. Ample seats in the living room to suit a large visiting group. We chose this property for its location to Durlston Castle, to attend a family wedding. Parking in Swanage can be difficult at peak times, but it is free, we managed to park within a short walk of the property. The view of Swanage beach to Old Harry Rocks is fantastic from each of the rooms facing the road. For a built up area, it was very peaceful in the evening. The lofty position with its super views, really make it a special place to stay.
