Very comfortable beds, large and varied breakfast served every morning. Absolutely amazing host that are so helpful and welcoming. Literally anything we asked about, they wen't out of their way to help us.
Some steep and tall stairs without handrails to reach all the rooms. Water cuts out sometimes in the evening (municipal issue across the city, not the hotel's fault) and it can be a little bit before their pump and well kicks in. Usually not an issue unless you're showering at that exact moment.

The Dar is absolutely beautiful and has a rooftop terrace that is cozy and offers a good place to relax after a day in the medina. The Dar is in pretty much in the centre of the medina and you can walk in to the souk pretty much instantaneously. The staff was lovely and very helpful throughout our stay - they helped booking a ride back to Qurbus as well as a driver to el Jem and Kairouan. The breakfast was very good, and varied in the couple of days we were there.
The room itself is very dark, and doesn’t quite live up to the expectations set from the entrance area downstairs. The bed was hard. I would’ve loved it to be a small refrigerator in the room to place our water bottles in.

Beautiful room with excellent air conditioning. The breakfast was top notch—amazing food! Nice location. I loved it and would return again.
Nothing. I liked everything.

The place is professionally run, with payments and so forth properly managed. Rooms are very, very spacious and there is a kettle (but no refrigerator to keep milk). Homemade yoghurt and mint tea at breakfast were delicious. The cats are very healthy and well cared for. The location is excellent for sightseeing, the train to Monastir and early morning running along the beach. However, it is about a 25 minute walk to the louage station.
After spending some time reading sitting under the bed covers as it was cold, I realised I was getting itchy. It soon clicked that their were bed bugs (or the scientific equivalent). The itchiness and feeling of a rash (although skin did not go red) lasted for over a week after leaving. Fortunately I carry a sleeping bag and towel, so could use these to sleep in to avoid the bedding. There also aren't towels - you are provided with cloths. They're not exactly warm to wrap yourself in after a lukewarm shower! There is no refrigerator in the room. Rooms are not serviced during the day, and the bathroom sink takes a LONG time to drain. I don't know if this is normal in Tunisia as I otherwise stayed in hostels, which were all great. The floor rug in the room was absolutely filthy. It was full of hairs and rubbish scraps and other dirt. I doubt it had ever been washed/cleaned. Staff are very professional but greetings to guests seem forced.
