This review is more a criticism of Beijing hotels in general. They are all invariabye smelly, and have an unclean vibe. You can tell they cleaned and changed the sheets and towels and everything, but there's just something a bit off. Unfortunately, China still has a sort of culture where people just trash their hotel rooms -- smoking and throwing garbage everywhere, and so somehow there's this lingering feeling of griminess. The only difference is that in Beijing, not only are you getting the skeevy and smokey vibe but you are also pay top dollar (or yuan, as it were) for it. Budget hotel conditions for luxury prices.
If there are any affordable hotels in Beijing without this kind of phenomenon, I'd like to know about it. Maybe one of the local airbnb alternatives would be a better option.
