Fisherman's Cabin on the banks of the River Meon

Lovely location right on the river. The host was super helpful. Slight issue with shower water pressure was quickly rectifiede by host. The cabin was basic, but then i knew that before the trip. Short walk from the village and pub. Recommend it if you're a fisherman. Quiet and beautiful.

The cabin is rustic and the facilities are basic, but thats not a reason to dislike - thats just how it is...and apparent on the search engine.

Amazing location. Great walks around. Lucky enough to see otters and the family are amazing whom live there. Great little cabin and will return!

Window in bathroom didn’t have privacy

After walking part of the South Downs Way we walked to find the property & this was about a 25 minute walk from the South Downs Way itself, it was booked as everywhere else was already taken. There is a pub & village store to buy supplies, we were advised to book for the pub but came back later & were able to sit outside, the pizza was great! The cabin is in a beautiful setting on the river & the owner's wife showed us to the cabin & had a chat about the area & property. We enquired about getting an uber to the pub as we couldn't face the walk after a 20K walk that day. She couldn't have been lovelier & offered us a lift to the pub & took us, which was so very kind, she even offered to pick us up but we declined as we could & did get an uber back from the pub. There was milk provided & some tea & coffee sachets.

Unfortunately the cabin & separate toilet/shower block wasn't clean & hadn't been swept properly, in the cabin one of the windows had gaps in them & didn't feel that secure, which could make for a cold night, there was a heater though. The compostable toilet seat was broken & no sawdust was provided to cover after it was used, I did enquire where it was but nothing happened. The shower cubicle had doors that snapped shut & was very small so neither of us used it as it would have been claustrophobic & also wasn't clean. The bedding on one of the beds had bleach stains but seemed clean. The chairs outside were broken & dirty. One thing we didn't realise, was that it is within earshot of the where the 'Hambledon' Hunt keeps its Hounds. They started baying at about 10pm for about 20 minutes, stopped, then woke us up at 3.30am with more baying for 20 mins & again at about 5am, ear plugs didn't help. We left at 6.30am very tried, which wasn't great as we had a 25K hike to do that day. It could have been such a nice place to stay had some effort been put into the cabin, considering what we paid for it, there are better places for the money.
