About this house rental
Charming Charentaise house of 113 m2, fully restored and renovated in 2021, in a peaceful rural hamlet, on the doorstep of Angoulême and the Dordogne.
Authentic construction dating back to 1840, built from local stone and antique terracotta floor tiles, nestled within a large fully enclosed shaded park of approximately 2000 m2.
La Charmette Charentaise is your exclusive gîte, completely independent and private. The grounds and pool are also private, with 24-hour access to the latter. Classified as a 1* furnished holiday rental, la Charmette will surprise you with its comfort and charm, offering much more than a typical rental in this category.

Covered terrace of 18 m2 adjacent to the house.
Outdoor ping-pong table (with 4 paddles!)

Large living room/lounge with two authentic British Chesterfield sofas, a large connected ChromeCast and satellite TV, a closed hearth fireplace, and solid oak furniture including a monastery table seating six to ten. Arcade cabinet for playing classic video games with family or friends.
Large fully equipped solid elm kitchen with central island, including utensils, plates, bowls, and cutlery, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, espresso machine, ceramic hob, oven, 31L microwave with grill function, toaster, kettle, and bottle warmer.
Dining area adjacent to the kitchen with a TV and a table for four to six people.
Bathroom with a large bathtub, sink, and towel storage unit (baby bathtub available on request).
Separate toilet (child seat available on request).
Washing machine.
Note: a few steps to connect some parts of the house.
Master bedroom 1: one large 160x200 memory foam bed + en-suite with walk-in shower, sink, and toilet. Baby cot available.
Bedroom 2: bright French doors overlooking the garden; two 90x190 beds + an 80x190 day bed.
Rest area on the mezzanine with an 80x190 day bed.

This charming old mansion is a true haven of peace and tranquility amidst the gentle rural landscape of the Charente. Everything was absolutely perfect for our needs, and we enjoyed every moment of our stay. The house is comfortably furnished and equipped with every appliance one could wish for - we never once felt we were missing anything. The pristine pool was a delight, offering the perfect refreshment during hot summer days. We were warmly welcomed by the host‘s parents, who were always nearby and ready to assist if needed, which made our stay feel even more relaxed and cared for. We felt truly privileged to spend our holiday here and would love to return in future.

A very beautiful house with character and a well-kept garden. The pool was also nice. The welcome was very warm, very nice people. We were particularly pleased with the small selection of regional products that were kindly made available to us for tasting. Thank you very much for that :-). In summary: We felt comfortable and would book again if we were in the area again.
