Another great stay

This is our 3rd stay at Jog lodges and again we had a great stay. The lodge is perfect for a family, plenty room for everyone. Has everything you required for a holiday. The washing machine is a huge bonus and the dishwasher was very welcomed! We were there during the snow, the log burner was on most of the time which kept us lovely and warm. There is plenty of free parking spaces available.

Take extra logs

It was mixer and clean and well equipped

The info in the property said we could buy extra bags of logs for the log burner but when we ran out we were told we couldn’t get any more from them as it was for starter packs and emergencies- New Year and no shops open didn’t count as an emergency so we had to go to bed early to keep warm as the heating is not enough just on its own with howling 60mph winds

Great location, great accommodation and great customer service.

The cabin was clean, modern and really comfortable with everything we needed. I also liked that fact that I received a text message a few days prior to our arrival, with instructions and also asking if there was anything we needed. There was a log burner in the cabin to complement the central heating, which made the fact it was -2 outside irrelevant. This was a great experience from start to finish, with a clear focus on the customer.

Amazing Lodge in great location.

Absolutely amazing lodges. Finished to a very high spec, location and views are amazing and plenty of space for 6 people (although only 2 of us we would not have been uncomfortable with 4 more).

Nothing we did not like. Only small thing was if we had known di6re wood was so difficult to get locally we would have asked for more or brought more with us. Thankfully some friends came to our rescue.

Key lock box very difficult to open, as obviously aged and corroded Property starting to look a bit worn/well used, but not a big issue, just needs a bit more TLC Being as most of the lodges were seemingly empty we would preferred one with better location/view rather than at the back with views of other lodges Could've done with a more generous supply of wood, being as there aren't exactly many shops nearby

What a place!

We came here for a week's relaxation, and that's exactly what we got. From the self check in and out, to the empty beaches, everything was perfect. The lodge had everything we needed for a peaceful week! We'll definitely be back!

Could maybe do with a visitors book, along with leaflets with suggestions for local things to do and places to eat. Helpful for those less tech savvy maybe?

Some of the facilities were faulty so it impacted the stay - the heating wasn't working initially (with one radiator fully hot or off) and the cooker was intermittently working. The maintenance man was efficient in repairing fortunately. Also more info about the area, walks, shops etc would have been useful. The maintenance man fortunately filled us in on options to assist. A smart tv would have been ideal. Some of the furniture/kitchen was a little tired

Paradise on earth

Great beds, very clean, beautiful views, fun for kids, nice little shops nearby, plenty of little restaurants, not far from grocery shops (30 min). Great that you have blinds for all windows.

Absolute gem of a cabin. Among the best we've experienced

Spotlessly clean, enormously spacious, fantastically well equipped with everything, and I mean everything you need. Beds were really comfortable, loads of storage in the rooms. The massive floor to ceiling windows offer stunning views. Yet it is still private. Showers were gorgeous and the ensuite a real treat. Big fridge, big freezer, oven and hob. Located right by the little area of shops and the pub, it is an ideal spot to spend a week exploring the coast and sea bird colonies or just a nice stopper on the way round the coast. There was a little doggy welcome bag with treats and a kit for the dog too. It was a really amazing place to stay. Honestly among the best we've experienced here.

Superb!

We loved the views, how comfortable and clean everything was and all the little touches that made it feel home from home, even down to the toiletries. The area surrounding the lodges was well maintained and there are excellent local walks from the lodges to the lighthouse and along the beaches. We loved watching the tidal changes and seeing the shipping go past, the views all the way over to Orkney. The opportunity for a day trip to Orkney from Gills Bay is not to be missed but be aware you won't see everything that Orkney has to offer in a day!

The television needs updating so that customers can stream things like Netflix, Disney+ etc. The description on booking.com needs updating as there is good wi-fi available and was sufficient for one of us to work during our stay

It would have been great to have sharper kitchen knives – but that’s a very small detail.

Mixed stay - perfect if not for this pet cleanliness issue.

Location , amenities and comfort

Cleanliness - sofa ,chairs and floor edges had lots of per hair .. easily visible with naked eye... didn't even had to look keenly . blew up my dog/cat allergic reaction... Had to clean everything first before settling in.. thankfully there was a vaccum cleaner. When extra pet cost is charged one would expect the lodge to get a good deep clean before next customer moves in.

Great accommodation

We loved the spacious and bright accommodation. It was comfortable and clean and was well equipped. We enjoyed the coffee machine. There were some dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid provided. There was plenty of hot water and heat. The shower was excellent and good quality shower gel provided. Fabulous bedding, really comfortable beds. The staff were helpful. The view was great, and it was close to a couple of nice cafes and bars, as well as the beach.

Just a couple of minor things- We found it difficult to turn the radiators down . One blind needed fixing, it kept unrolling too far when pulled down.

Family Trip to John O Groat's

We had Jog Lodge number 6. We had a bit of a sea view and Loved the layout of the accommodation, the log fire was great and a few logs provided on the first night helped, the beds were very comfortable and clean. The soap provided was nice and the towels were fluffy. The coffee machine was nice and lovely added touches such as dishwas tablets, tea/sugar which we didn't expect. Nice to walk down to the sign post and shop area then around the shore walk with the dog. Ideal for the dog with laminate floors.

Everything was absolutely amazing. The lodge (No. 2) had stunning views and beautiful surroundings. The weather took a turn for the worse the day after we arrived but to be honest, we were secretly pleased as we got to spend so much time in the lodge enjoying our time together just chilling out, making food in the fabulously equipped kitchen, and relaxing. The bed linen and towels were gorgeous quality, making long lie ins and long baths and showers a joy. Perfect 'get away from it all' holiday.

Fabulous Stay at Jog Lodge

Absolutely stunning lodge, thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night break away. Everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The beds were so comfy and a great shower. All mod cons are there if needed. Loved the wood burner. We enjoyed it that much we've booked again for New Year. Thanks for such a enjoyable stay.

A stunning remote stay - and amazing value for money!

We loved how comfortable the property was, the facilities were great and it felt very spacious. It was also the perfect location for a visit to John o Groats!

It wasn’t so much a dislike about the property but during our stay there was a power cut for 12 hours in which we had no heating, hot water, electricity etc which meant none of us in the group had access to our phones and we were freezing cold. Thankfully the staff were good about bringing us round more logs for the stove. But it was New Year’s Day, very cold outside and definitely not ideal. Definitely made us think twice about the remote location as they had any back up generators.

Comfy and great location

It was lovely and comfy and clean great location

We had no hot water in the first lodge we were in after travelling all day, we were moved the next day to another one, staff were helpful and friendly was a bit unfortunate we had to move as we couldn’t settle straight away. Staff were sorry but would have been nice to have offered us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience.

Super stay at Lodge.

Comfortable beds & bedding, plenty hot water & heat, super showers, good quality toiletries, fab fire. We were moved to Lodge 3 which had a nice grassy area out front for children in our party to play on. Good deck chairs, comfy sofa. Great views to Orkney. Loved it all.
