Reef Haven Belize

The property was beautiful and very clean and well maintained, the staff was so amazing and always there to help, the food was amazing and they were so accommodating!

Absolutely gorgeous property! Beautifully maintained and designed. The staff is incredible and the food is top notch. Everyone was accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay special.

The sargassum is a bummer… and also, the property is doing everything they can to combat it, and it’s something that is impacting every coastal country in the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. There’s so little they can do, and they are still doing it. It impacts the beachfront, but our experience was magical regardless.

My husband and I visited Reef Haven, Belize to celebrate our 30th anniversary, and it was truly unforgettable. Reef Haven is absolutely stunning—the property is gorgeous, peaceful, and easily among the nicest accommodations we’ve ever stayed in. The staff made our experience exceptional. Salvador, Angelita, Leo, Joanna, Rebecca, Mario, and Earl were all incredible, and Janessa gave us the warmest welcome and took amazing care of us throughout the entire week. We ate daily at the beach bar or the main restaurant, and every meal was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. The wait staff was attentive and made each dining experience feel personal and special. We loved the nightly themed dinners featuring cuisine from around the world, along with staple favorites for less adventurous eaters. Each evening also included a featured cocktail, though you could always order your favorite. Earl at the beach bar made some of the best drinks we’ve ever had, and Rebecca, Angelita, and Joanna kept me happily caffeinated each morning with the perfect caramel latte. Most days, my husband and I chose to explore off-property, but on the days we stayed at the resort, we relaxed by one of the two gorgeous pools, enjoyed massages, walked the nature trails, or sat on the dock soaking up the healing sunshine with cool drinks in hand. We snorkeled off the dock once and spotted beautiful yellow stingrays, though there is quite a bit of boat traffic and not much reef in that immediate area. On our last day, we rented a golf cart and drove a few miles north, where we found vibrant reef close to shore and no boat traffic at all.

Reef Haven is very remote—about 12 miles from San Pedro—and wonderfully quiet. The primary way to get into town is by the Reef Haven boat shuttle, which is $30 per person round trip and takes about 30 minutes. You can also rent a golf cart, but the drive from town takes about an hour and twenty minutes along bumpy, narrow, jungle-like trails. Keep in mind that the closest gas station is back in San Pedro, and the golf carts here are gas-powered. I will say that I would have preferred to stay a little closer to town and the excursion pick‑up points, since getting back and forth could get a bit spendy. Still, I would absolutely return to Reef Haven—if only for the incredible people who work there. They were truly the heart of our vacation and made the entire experience unforgettable. I would also plan my next visit for a time of year when the sargassum isn’t as prevalent, just to enjoy the shoreline at its best.

L’hôtel est magnifique et bien entretenu. Le personnel est très attentionné. Nous avons eu la chance d’être surclassé, la chambre était magnifique.

L’établissement est loin de tout, ce qui peut être à la fois génial pour se sentir isoler et pénible si vous souhaitez sortir. Le restaurant est d’une qualité assez inégale, certains jours les plats sont succulents et d’autres, ils manquent de saveurs ou sont trop salés. C’est dommage. Enfin, cette partie de l’île est actuellement submergée par l’arrivée constante de sargasses. L’hôtel fait ce qu’il peut pour nettoyer quotidiennement la mer et les plages mais ce n’est pas suffisant et une odeur de sulfure baigne en permanence la propriété.
