Nearby attractions include miles of sandy beaches, dozens of castles, and boat trips to the world-famous Farne Islands, and Alnwick itself has a nice selection of shops, pubs, and restaurants. All in all, it's a great base from which to discover Northumberland and its breathtaking Heritage Coast.
