Startup House Palo Alto

For a share-house community of friendly, high-tech/startup folks, Startup House exceeded my expectations. Location is convenient to Stanford, Caltrain, Highway 101 plus cafes, supermarkets etc within walking distance ...all in a very safe neighborhood. The hosts Vlad and Tim are great and do a good job of keeping the place running smoothly and as clean as possible. I met lots of great people and had very positive conversations. Much more enjoyable than coming home to an empty hotel room every night.

It's a share house so all of this is to be expected... A single room was not available by the time I booked so sharing a room with others, and sharing the bathroom, requires a bit more time, effort and cooperation. If you value private time, make sure to get a single room.

The place, location, community; utilities and amenities. Wifi is good. Comfortable space for everyone to work.

Can be a bit more clean

Location was super easy to get to and from. I appreaciated the staff was so easy-going. Beds were nice as well, and other guests respectful around sleep.

Not really sure what is so "Start-up house" about it. No good places to work, expect for randomly placed desks in different rooms. When more than 1 person was on call it was impossible to think. Living room was more couch than it was desk, and the TV always on loudly. I'm fine with all that for a regular hostel, I just dont understand the marketing of calling it a "Start-up house". Just call it a "house".
