    Chose a twin bed so I can have my clothes layer out. When checking I was asked if it is one or two persons. I stared my friend might come. They wanted me to pay the new March 1st tourist tax which is only 100 yen per person per day. I stated I won't pay for a 2nd person unless that person comes as I don't know at that time. Staff stated because I have a twin bed, assuming*, that there will be 2 and I must pay. Then they spoke in Japanese. I could only assume they were worried I will sneak someone in. I explained again that I don't know if friend will come. Then they allowed me to pay tourism tax for 1 per day. Toilet should be cleaned thoroughly and not 'lightly wiped.' Condiments are downstairs at reception. Staff stated there is no cleaning during the stay until checkout. I Iquired about towels and they said just notify them for more/replacemet. Train is about 5 or 7 minute walk from hotel. Not much to do around. McDonald's also at that distance, small corner market and some food places.
