We wanted to spend some time in a quiet peaceful town. This place was a good location for us as we explored the Gangwon region. It had space for a little kid to roam around and a quiet space for a big kid to do their thing. We really wanted to experience being in a quiet area away from the busy city life and this ticks a lot of boxes for us
We got there late at night after driving for hours with kids. We wish we knew beforehand to bring food and groceries because most places were shut. That was our lack of research. Thankfully, we rented a car from Seoul and found a small convenience store nearby.
It would be helpful to have a list of nearby restaurants, food stores, and establishments to take out the guesswork.
At the end of the day, it became a part of our adventure and we'd be happy to stay there again

The property is about a 20-minute drive from the train station, but the setting more than makes up for it—especially in winter, when everything is beautifully blanketed in snow. The host is incredibly welcoming and goes above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay; he even drove us to the nearest market to pick up takeaways. The home itself is well maintained and wonderfully cozy, staying warm and comfortable even during peak winter when temperatures drop sharply. Our kids absolutely loved the experience, and we’re already looking forward to visiting again.

Sisilli Pension is easy to reach by car from Seoul to Pyeongchang, and I highly recommend driving since it’s located in a quiet, deeper area. Once you arrive, the view is absolutely breathtaking. It’s far from tall buildings and surrounded by nature, perfect for a peaceful getaway.
Pyeongchang Ski Resort is reachable within about half an hour, which is very convenient, yet the town itself is not busy or crowded. I visited during winter, and the outdoor area around the house was covered in snow, creating a calm and cozy atmosphere. A great place to relax and enjoy nature.
Towels are not provided, so you need to bring your own. Halal food is also difficult to find in the area, except one at Pyeongchang Ski Resort.
