Bathroom too small

Mahmoud in particular was an amazing guide and very helpful in the hotel. The location is also extremely central, good walking distance from everything you would want to see in the city (Cavafy’s house, the Bibliotecha Alexandrina, the Fine Arts Museum, Downtown, etc.). The kitchen and free coffee and tea were also very appreciated and the WiFi was good, and in the building itself there’s a very cool local art space called Laila, just two floors down.

The “non-working elevator” worked, but we just didn’t have access to it. I didn’t have a lot of bags, but it would have been nice. The door of the building stays open at night, and the inside of the building itself really needed some TLC (a weird smell, stray cats inside, garbage on the steps, etc.). There’s also no air-conditioning, if that bothers you (didn’t bother me). The street outside can also be quite noisy, and if you leave the balcony door open at night you WILL wake up with bugs and that is not fun. The street itself is also pretty decrepit, and I imagine it wouldn’t feel great to walk around as a woman, or as a (less adventurous or seasoned) tourist.

Mattress was a bit lumpy

Location is ideal, nice old classocal Alexandria bulding. Ideal for seasoned travellers to Egypt who are familiar with the country, city and standards. For beginners not a good choice.

The beds were terribly uncomfortable, basically the middle is declined, I woke up with a massive backpain. There is no AC, what could not an issue, but the cellilling fan is too high and man bearly feels it. The staff is ok, but I find too much the telling of rules. If man comes to an islamic country , then understanding the culture is a basic. No need to mephasise on it, because it can come off to guests to be judgmental.
