VILLA DEL MAR- Private swimming pool next to the beach

The house is close to the beach, but it's an undeveloped, fairly wild beach. The house is nice, the neighborhood is very quiet, and there's a shop nearby. There's also a Lidl and Supeco in the area. The yard is wonderful and gets sun all day long, and the pool is heated, maintaining a temperature of 24-25 degrees (a bit cold for our preferences, but better than at the beach clubs or hotels). The hosts, or the people who manage the house, are wonderful and were super kind.

On the other hand, the house itself wasn't very clean, the rooms are very small, and the beds are uncomfortable. Everything in the house feels outdated. Even though there are 3 bathrooms, there's only one hair dryer. We had to repair a kitchen drawer ourselves, and when you open the fridge door, the kitchen light turns off because the door hits the light switch. On the ground floor there's a bad sewage smell, and we found a lot of critters in the house — small bugs, spiders, bedbugs… The fridge didn't smell very good either, probably because it's turned off when there are no guests. Unfortunately, we didn't find even a single bottle of water in the fridge, and there was nothing in the house. We had to buy our own garbage bags, dishwasher and laundry tablets. We didn't even have salt or sugar. Not even a coffee machine… and the dishes and cutlery are very old. There's IKEA and similar stores nearby… it's not that expensive to buy some plates or pans/pots. All in all, our vacation was a good one, but we didn't spend much time at the villa. Also, Booking states that the property is 800 sqm… maybe including the yard, because the house is at most 150 sqm. Personally, I wouldn't stay here again.

We truly loved our time at Villa del Mar, the villa surpassed expectations and is a wonderful property. The villa is spacious, comfortable, immaculately decorated, beautifully, traditionally and thoughtfully furnished throughout. There are all the facilities you require to keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It has all the mod-cons you require. The garden is lush, tropical, well-maintained and almost completely private. The swimming pool is fantastic, as are the outdoor eating and lounging areas. There are wonderful sea views from the master bedroom and the beach is at the end of the road. We were thrilled when we saw the property on arrival and we were met promptly by the property manager who gave us a run through of all we needed to know. We knew they were on hand if needed. We settled in very quickly. The villa is ideally located particularly if you have a car, as it is a short drive to many towns, beaches and mountains along the Costa Del Sol and the dedicated parking space in front of the villa was very useful. There are also local shops and eateries within walking distance. It is a delightful place to stay and we did not want to leave.
