Lara's place

Beautiful and comfortable rooms and a stunning view, especially from the restaurant. Breakfast was different every day and very good. The owner was very nice and helpful. The location is up the hill which makes it more quite, but it’s better to rent a scooter to get around. We could rent the scooter directly there for a fair price. Overall great stay

We had a beautiful stay at Lara’s place! The host and his family were incredibly warm and welcoming. The accommodation is set in a stunning location overlooking the sea. We had the best night’s sleep we’ve had since arriving in Sri Lanka, and the breakfast was absolutely incredible. Highly recommend!

Amazing hosts, in a fantastic location. Help you with any troubles & recommendations needed, from days out, to restaurants or even sorting a bike rental. The breakfast was amazing different Sri Lankan style everyday, Lara talked us through each dish & what it was & the correct way to eat. We loved our stay.

Delicious breakfast, different everyday

20+ minute walk outside of Unawatuna on a steep winding path. We booked the standard double room, found it to be on the smaller size. There is a shared balcony with the room next door, and since next door accesses their room through the balcony we had to keep our windows shut for any privacy which is unfortunate. I would only recommend staying here if you had a private oceanview balcony, otherwise its a long difficult walk outside of Unawatuna without any benefits - we wished we stayed closer into town (or at least at the bottom of the hill). Our A/C broke on the second day and we were without AC until the next afternoon; the owner offered to bring a repairman in however that was at 10pm and it would take an hour + to fix so we declined. It made for a very uncomfortable evening in the room. The owner chats with guests over breakfast but it felt forced and awkward.
