I arrived earlier than the check-in time and just wanted to drop my bag before heading to the ancient town. The staff seemed too busy and offered me a free lunch in her restaurant on the 1st floor and then settled me in the hostel afterwards. there was no staff at the counter at any time. the kitchen and common area were big, and people could cook and hang out there.
there's a supermarket just 5 minutes' walk away, but not much places to eat or hang out. the buses to cable car station or even the historical city are free, runs only hourly.
just that the hostel room was basic but quite dusty everywhere, probably because of the construction site next to it. I stayed in a single room and cleaned the floor myself. haha. My room had a big window facing the downhill, which was lovely.
the shower was not hot at all in the evening (it's slightly warmer in the morning).
but after all, I wouldn't expect much for a hostel at this price, and San Marino is a lovely place with very friendly people.
