About this apartment rental
Luxury second floor holiday apartment newly furnished to a very high standard. This bright and spacious apartment can accommodate a maximum of four adults and two children, it consists of an open plan fully fitted modern kitchen with integrated fridge freezer, electric oven & gas hob, finished in high gloss cream. The dining area has comfortable seating for 6 and the large lounge area boasts 2 two seater sofas (one sofa bed ),. The master bedroom has a double bed and built in triple wardrobes with drawers and it's own private balcony. Bedroom two has 2 single beds, triple wardrobe with drawers and shares the large balcony with the living area. The fully tiled bathroom has a W.C., bidet, washhand basin, shower cubicle, vanity unit and automatic washing machine for guests' use. The apartment is fully air conditioned and has mosquito screens fitted to all 3 sets of patio doors. The main balcony has a patio table and 6 chairs for alfresco dining. The apartment is also fitted with Wi Fi.
The beach nearest to the apartment is a five minute walk and is both sand and pebble, the use of this beach is free. Further along the beach at the lido, sunbeds, parasols and pedalos are offered for hire, other water sports are also available here.
The piazza in the centre of Marina di Caulonia has welcoming restaurants, trendy bars and shops. Here you can enjoy gourmet food, pizzas, freshly caught seafood, local wines and cheeses, delicious gelato and patisseries.
A trip to the beautiful medieval town of Caulonia Superiore is well recommended, to visit the many churches especially the splendid church of St Zaccaria and experience the spectacular panoramic views. Whilst there you can relax with a cool drink in one of the several piazzas and appreciate the local culture.
ATTRACTIONS
Roccella Jonica's (5km) hillside 15th century Carafa Castle, lively souvenir market, lively Marina (restaurant here sells pizza by the metre!!).
Monastarace (18km) - ruins of a medieval castle.
Stilo (28km) - Monte Consolino (700m) is a mountain in the Serre Calebresi Range. At the top of the mountain you will find the ruins of a Norman Castle.
Bivongi (28kn) - a must is the 'Casata del Marmarico' the famous waterfall.
Aspromonte (106km) - the nearest ski resort is Gambarie The resort has 5 pistes which are suitable for beginners, intermediate and snowboarders.
Reggio di Calabria (120km) - the gateway to Sicily. A ferry ride to another amazing Italian experience where you can visit the Duomo di Messina with it's 60m bell tower containing one of the most famous astronomical clocks, at midday the figures are set in motion and show scenes from the history of Messina.

EATING OUT. While Marina di Caulonia is a traditional Italian town with many places to eat and drink, I have listed a few which are well worth a visit for quality of food and price.
BLUE TANGO, beach front restaurant (excellent seafood)
LA CHACARITA, Restaurant at end of promenade, (shown in picture gallery) great pizzas, seafood and steaks.
RANCH SOUND STEAKHOUSE - On the main road leaving Caulonia (excellent steaks).
LE COLONNE - Restaurant in Caulonia Superiore very reasonable.
LA TRATTORIA DEL PESCE - Excellent fish restaurant near Ranch Sound.
Mimo's opposite Moonlight Bar - very good pizzas.
KURU PAY - Beach front, restaurant/nightclub.
IGUANA - Beach front restaurant/nightclub.
From personal experience anyone with special dietary needs, in particular Coeliac (gluten intolerance) can be well catered for, as restaurants are more than happy to provide suitable dishes.

The apartment was in a good area and accommodated our family of 5. The pool was an extra bonus. Amenities in the apartment were good. Toaster and dishwasher would be recommended. We appreciated having the beach umbrella, towels and chairs. We enjoyed our stay.

The appartment was very clean and had everything you need during holiday. Complementary water during arrival was much appreciated.

Es war ein sehr erholsamer Urlaub. Die Wohnung ist sehr sauber und hat eine gute Lage. Der Strand und auch die Promenade mit Bars und Restaurants sind zu Fuß gut zu erreichen.

Appartamento molto accogliente e dotato di ogni confort. Abbiamo avuto qualche problema con la caldaia dell'acqua calda che funzionava male e bisognava riavviarla spesso. Qualche difficoltà di tipo linguistico con il contatto locale (sicuramente una brava persona disponibile ) ma siamo riusciti a colloquiare con difficoltà. Se si parlava in Italiano sembrava che capisse poco, un pò meglio quando abbiamo iniziato a parlare in inglese! non abbiamo approcciato con il calabrese! Gli unici disservizi sono imputabili alla Municipalità ad es. pochi cassonetti per il conferimento dei rifiuti e cumuli di immondizia a ridosso del residence mai rimossi nell'arco del soggiorno. Ovunque segni di degrado e incuria. A compensare un mare splendido e cristallino con tanti pesci!
