Plaza Hotel Fort Lauderdale

Between the foul smell of the place and the attitude of the staff, I don't know which was worse. Starting from when I was checked in, the door won't open even though the access light on the lock showed green, meaning it is supposed to open. I had to be moved to a different room. I walk into the room, turned the light on and one of the lamps started sparking at the wall plug-in. I took the risk and quickly pulled it out, to make sure there was no fire. I became curious and decided to turn on each device. It turned out that TV is broke, the microwave remains on luck no matter how many times you try to unlock it. The coffee maker won't work at all. The entire floor seems musty wet and when I checked my socks, it was the dirtiest I've seen. I went down to report the issues and got the nastiest attitude I've ever experienced from especially the light skin lady that works at the front desk there. I had to report this issue for several days for them to send out a technician. The technician is the only person there that treats you like a human being. That TV was replaced, the microwave was taken away and never returned, the lamp was not replaced. And again the smell of that place stays with you. Stay away.

We did not have breakfast. Staff was great. The room was very nice, the bathroom however needs a serious upgrade.

The furthest room from the check in on the 4th floor, and I use a walker. No shampoo or working hairdryer prevented me from washing my hair before our cruise.

The hotel has an odor and the bathrooms need to be updated

This is my first time writing a hotel review, it was absolutely awful!! I stayed there for one night on Nov. 21st. At night about 10pm, I heard a man talking over the phone next door since it’s a joint room with a door in between my room and his room, I guess that’s the reason why I was able to hear him. I also made sure my door was well locked once I checked in. Then soon after I heard he was banging on the door on his side continuously and kept saying “hello”! I was too scared to even move! I sat on my bed and held my breath. Then I heard him banging the main door from outside. I am a female by myself in the room, I was scared to death! After a while when he was quite, I tried to call front desk so that hopefully someone can help me change a new room, I dialed many times the phone in the room was not even working!! Then I used my own cell phone and called the hotel number for another 10times, no one was answering!!! According to the front desk staff in next morning there were two people on duty on that night! If it that man banged on my door for another time I would definitely call 911! I think it’s even not important to mention that the hair drier was not working either, and also that the next morning when I was checking out, another guest was picking a pillow in his finger tips with a bed bug crawling on it! All in all , I don’t recommend it, not even worth one penny!!

Well it started out great! I walked in and the lobby was nice, it smelled great! There were a few weird rules that I had to agree too but nothing too crazy. Every rule has a reason so I figured they might have dealt with unruly customers in the past so they had to be very specific on paper. I booked a king bed room and when I checked in they put me in a double queen. When I asked if it was a mistake they dismissed it and said it was and upgrade because I got moved to a "renovated" room. I agreed, accepting the upgrade and headed towards my room. Immediately after the lobby/gift shop area, the atmosphere changed. The carpets were dirty, the lighting was creepy and the pleasant smell was replaced by one of old furniture. The "renovated" room was worse. There were paint splatters and stains on every surface and the beds consisted of a mattress, still in the shipping plastic, on top of makeshift plywood bed frames painted black with a single sheet on the bed. There were no sign of bugs and was relatively clean aside from the terrible remodel job. The water pressure and heat were great which can be rare in cheap hotels. All in all you get what you pay for and this was the cheapest hotel on the list.

Terrible experience — nothing like the photos The hotel was in very poor condition and looked nothing like the photos on the website. The walls had holes, and the room overall was in extremely bad shape. We didn’t stay even one night. As soon as we saw the room, we asked the front desk staff to cancel our reservation because we were going to another hotel, but they told us we had to do it through Hotels.com. Very disappointing

The hotel from the outside looks good, but when you enter you have a horrible smell that penetrates your clothes, the bathtub covered and the walls with mold, there were even roaches in the bathroom I qualify it with 1 star

The room had roaches, it was very outdated. The room didn’t have a microwave, the bathroom was raggedy, no comforters on the bed. It smelled in the room and hallway, very uncomfortable stay.

Budget friendly hotel Great staff! Extremely busy lobby seemed to be the hangout spot loud folks up down hallway all night!

First off the woman,Candace, who check us in was amazing.That was the only nice thing about this teip.We got into the room and it stunk,pubic hair and long hair was all under the bathroom sink and around the toilet.There was hair on the toilet seat.The floor in the room was sticky and hadnt been swept or mopped.Then we saw a German roach.I decided to go up to the office and complain,Candace was very helpful and gave us a new room.That room was alot cleaner and smelt better but after we fell asleep and woke up,we found 2 more german roaches in that room.The pictures do not look like thw actual rooms,they need to be updated on every hotel app.And noone is allowed to check in till 4:00 so the line was out the door,we didnt get to our room till about 7:00 that night.Horrible expierence, do not stay there.

Room was nice, the front desk Lady was the nicest one at the hotel. Very kind and she made my checkin very smooth. I enjoyed the tiki bar.

The room were terrible the furniture broken can’t put yours clothes in drawer the mirror dirty and the bathroom sink clogging while using it not even a microwave to hot your food. It was very terrible service and the place smells like burning ancient oils. The hotel feel very claustrophobic.

Rooms were not clean, strong smell of smoke, cockroaches. I initially booked for 2 weeks. I had to check out very next day due to several problems. Hotel staff try to enter the room with their key without calling. I was told the room assigned to me was not supposed to given to any staff. I stayed for one night and the hotel did not even refund me the remaining nights that I've already paid for. Poor service from the hotel and hotels.com website.

No television service. Toilet flushing bad. Bed uncomfortable. Not enough room lights. Dirty face towel. Only one hand towel. For the price might be ok. At sign in front desk personnel mention a hidden fee of $43,with that added I would be able to stay at the LaQuinta at 3800 Commercial Blvd, better accommondation with breakfast. From desk personnel I believe has waiver the $43 additional fee. Anyway you get what you pay for at times. Not my first bad experience of lodging at this hotel. Finance is tight. The staff is a 50 50 as for friendliness.

I dont really put bad reviews but this was truely NOT AS ADVERTISED. I want to state that my stay here was extremely horrible. 1. We received a room that was under construction. 4 reservations were a king size bedroom and got 2 double bed 3. the shower head was not working and the bathtub over flowed 4. the room had dirty floors. 5 no dark window curtain was not dark at all all night due to lights outside. It's like they gave me a room that was still on renovation. 6. Ceiling by window was all molded and cracked. 6 sink was all shipped with old paint. I also got charged for a supposedly $200 resort fee plus $36 for I dont know what for. But they said they were going to refund it if they didn't find any damage. WHAT DAMAGE! They put us in a room that was still under renovation. I have pictures and videos to show. I hope I get my $200 refund back because we arrived at 1 am in the morning and we're too tired to go back to desk after a 17 hour drive and complain about everything that was bad. There was not 1 chair in the room no blankets on bed smoke detector needed battery so kept beeping

It is the true definition of "you get what you pay for" and in my opinion, i paid too much. There were roaches everywhere, mold, dust and dirt. They were renovating by just covering up all imperfections, not actually fixing anything. They charge resort fees and say their for amenities like breakfast but still charge for breakfast. The only good thing about this place is the front desk agent, Ana.

Cute but there was a condom on the floor in the lobby. There was a $200 security deposit nobody mentioned to me until I tried to check in. .

Booked a stay for a guest upon arrival they required a deposit which is not a problem however she went on to state that she needs the credit card used for the reservation absurd this a business account used for an employee he would not have that physical card present promised a refund no that it’s being denied

Switched rooms a few times, TV's weren't working. Found a room with still limited channels. Saw roaches quite often. And also had a damp feeling especially the first night there was water seeping up from the tile floor.
