Town: Located in the island's northwest, Dunvegan is home to a mix of traditional stone and modern homes, as well as several businesses and accommodations. The clan MacLeod has lived in Dunvegan Castle, located about a mile from the settlement, continuously since the 13th century. The world-famous Three Chimneys Restaurant is only five minutes away by car, while the equally acclaimed Old School Restaurant is only ten minutes away on foot. Fantastic rock formations and pinnacles may be found in the Cullin Mountains, which many climbers consider to be the best in the world. The Talisker Distillery and Portree, the island's lone town, are two more popular destinations. Portree is built around the island's natural port and features a wide variety of hotels, restaurants, and stores.
