Welcome to Catahoula Cabin! Surrounded by lovely hardwoods and tucked away on the hills of Lake Lure, this cabin is perfect for anyone looking to get away for a bit and connect. From the moment you enter the log cabin, you’re welcomed into a soothing environment that puts you in vacation mode.
The main level features a kitchen with a gas range, a dining table that seats 6, a conveniently located half bath, a living room with high ceilings and gas logs, and a TV. This level also offers a bedroom with a king bed, a full bath, and a TV. The upper level has a bedroom with a king bed, a full bathroom in the hall, and a bedroom with two queen beds.
Spend your mornings sipping coffee or tea as the sunlight filters through the trees surrounding the back deck and the creek rumbles by with the melody of bird songs. There is a wood-burning fire pit & a small creek for your enjoyment. When you’re ready to adventure out, go to Lake Lure’s public 3-acre white sand beach to rent a kayak, paddleboard, or spend your time lounging in the sun. Perhaps lunch at Burntshirt Vineyards and Bistro, and take in the view of Chimney Rock as you sip on local wine and feast on carefully cultivated seasonal entrees. Take your time wandering down Main Street, Chimney Rock, browsing the shops and sights, stopping at Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery for a local brew, Coffee On the Rocks for a nice berry smoothie or almond milk latte, or John Bull Trading Co. for the best fudge in town. For those up for a hike, visit Chimney Rock State Park and climb the 100+ steps to the top, or ride the brand-new elevator.

Boasting the North Shore Beach Cabana and marina, where you can play around on the water by kayak, stand-up paddleboard, or pontoon boat, this resort also offers tennis courts, pickleball, various hiking and biking trails, and an adventure camp designed for kids (ages 6-18). You can still enjoy the resort amenities inside, even on those inevitably rainy days. If you’re vacationing on Lake Lure, we highly recommend that you stay here! You get the best of both worlds… a private cabin in the woods surrounded by nature to relax and disconnect and then access to Rumbling Bald where we enjoyed the pool, beach, restaurant and miniature golf. Our family of four made so many incredible memories here, and we hope to return someday!

Sorry to say...this property needs many repairs and updates. Our family has utilized VRBO and Airbnb for approximately 25 years. Catahoula Cabin was NOT bright inside as pictures, (particularly the kitchen area), it was very dim even with all lights on. Several pieces of furniture need replacing as well.
The garbage was left behind from the previous renters for 6 days (both barrels) when it was 90-94 degrees outside, quite smelly! Although the agent tried several times to get it removed it was on Thursday night when it was taken away. Our own garbage was stored in the basement as a bear had come around a couple of nights to "toss and bite" the trash cans.
The grass was not close to being cut, and the upstairs AC vents did not put out any cool air, thus comfortable downstairs and miserably hot upstairs in the bedrooms.
Several other issues but I think you get the point.
I can honestly say, this is the first time I ever responded to a "review" as I have never had a problem in 25 or so years.
Finely, I can report that Rumbling Bald Resort and facilities was awesome. Our family managed to have a great time just the same.
