About this cottage rental
Summary:
Welcome to Cottage Mariposa (The Butterfly). This beautiful estate sits on Eagle Mountain Lake on 4 acres with gorgeous views from every window. THE BEST FRONT PORCH SITTIN'! With 4 bedrooms, a kids room & 13 beds that can sleep up to 18 adults & 4 kids for a total of 22. Whether you just want to relax or have fun in the sun, fishing, boating, & just livin' lake life this is it! Lots of deer watching! Kayaks, games, & canoes available for use. 3 min to marina/restaurant. Weddings/events available w/approval
The Space:
Spacious living areas inside and out and large bedrooms for up to 18 people and 4 kids max. The home was thoughtfully decorated with relaxation and a fun get away in mind. The wrap around porch gives plenty of porch sittin'! Plus there is a covered porch downstairs and huge patio areas. Down by the water there is also a covered cabana with picnic tables. The bridge and the dock with the gazebo belong to the neighbor and are on here to show the view from the porch but they are not on our property.
Guest Access:
The bridge and the dock with the gazebo are not on our property, the pics just show the view from our porch. We do have a dock that can be accessed and there is access to the water right behind the house with steps to get in (when the water is not too low). At the end of the property, it is very long and narrow 4 acres, you can access the main body water. There is a small sandy beach area (when the water is not too high).
The Neighborhood:
Beautiful lakefront neighborhood that is very wooded right behind Eagle Mountain State Park. Oh dear, the deer! Lot's of wildlife watching. There is a marina that has a boat launch and restaurant less than an mile. Sammy's on the water has good food, fun patio and live music. Also within 10 min Lakehouse with great food, patio and live music, Taste of Italy, & Boo Ray's. Only 30 min to downtown Fort Worth, 45 min to downtown Dallas, 40 min to DFW Airport, and 25 min to Texas Motor Speedway, the outlet mall and Buc-ee's.
Getting Around:
There are 4 restaurants on the water that you can get to by car or boat. There is ample parking for everyone staying in the house since the drive way is an acre long! Or you can take out the kayaks, canoe or swim to your destination. You are also welcome to bring your own boat!

We had 3 generations stay together at the lake. Our granddaughters loved the beauty parlor and wanted to go there everyday to fix their hair - something we never would have thought was there. The beds were all very comfortable. A lot of wildlife including 17 deer at one time on the property and a beaver. The property was close to anything we could have wanted but felt like we were in a rural setting. The owner was very responsive when we contacted her with a question. There were a lot of step downs in the house that are a real tripping hazard so be aware and watchful. The only thing I would have changed was the condition of some of the cookware but typical of a rental home that has a lot of use.

We swam, fished , enjoyed the beautiful scenery and wildlife. Lots of space for a comfortable vacation with extended family.

Home is AMAZING! Area is beautiful! Information you need to know: a very limited amount of towels are provided (maybe 8 towels are there), and there are no toiletries, except for some toilet paper. We had to buy towels after we got there. There are some things that need to be fixed (loose faucet in mid-level bathroom, door knob to the bunk room came off), but overall, I would love to stay there again!!! There is a short walk to the water front. The property line prevents you from accessing the water front nearby. It would be best for you to bring your own kayaks. There are two outdoor grills but they are in bad shape. There is not a trash can outside to put trash in. We had to leave it in the house. I understand there is one at the entrance of the property but I guess I missed it. There are separate living quarters on the ground level! It is awesome! The house is unique and so beautiful!! We enjoyed being there so much!! Would absolutely stay there again!!!
