Good location outside of town. Parking in gravel lot down the street not bad. Short walk and a bit dangerous for unloading luggage in front of hotel in traffic. Owner very nice and very helpful with suggestions of what to do. Other staff helpful in suggesting restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Beach is rocky, but water refreshing. Bed linens could use updating and futon in our room needed to be replaced, but overall a descent place to stay for the price.

We loved being right on the beach, and the area wasn’t busy which was lovely. At night, the noise levels were very high as the road is right there and it sounded like our windows were open when they would drive past. However, the staff were friendly and helped us call a taxi in the morning to catch our ferry.

Eva is a very welcoming host in her hotel. Location is just what we wanted. Right by the sea with the sound of waves on the shore. Excellent breakfasts with special items each day.

Snacks and cocktails are tasty and available. Don't miss the milkshakes! Eva was lovely and helped us plan our trip. Hector the dog kept an eye on things. Only negative and rather odd point was that the cleaning lady made our beds just once in 4 days. Soon sorted out once we mentioned it to Eva.

We felt very much at home in the small beach hotel. It started with the contact from home. Eva has responded quickly to our emails and accurately described to us how we can get in our room despite arriving nightly. Also we have taken their offer to make sandwiches for the first hunger in the room, thanking. And they were really very tasty! The room was big enough for both of us, the direct sea view from the balcony was unbeatable. The bathroom was tight for us, but o. k. Shower gel, shampoo, hair dryer were available. The room was cleaned every day. Bed linen and towels changed very often. Breakfast from 8: 00 until 11: 00 was very good. In addition to the daily standard, the freshly prepared homemade dishes such as tarts, Dakos, scrambled eggs, omelets, cakes and sweets changed every day. During the day, Eva offers some dishes and of course drinks of all kinds at fair prices. We have also enjoyed and were satisfied. We stayed always on our "private beach" for swimming, sunbathing and relaxing. We never went to the big beach in Rethymnon. Why also? We could have it any better! The small beach is never crowded. We drive no car. We could still very well take trips, bus tours and walking tours. Eva has done the reservation of three organized bus trips for us. Everything worked without problems. Also public bus transport works well and on time. Walking to the bus station, there are about 15 minutes. We have already booked the next holiday in this hotel.

The hotel is small and very welcoming. All the rooms face on the beach, with balconies, and there is a lovely view of the Venetian fortress about 2 km away. The room furnishings are simple but modern and clean. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of food, some cooked in house. There is a small pool, and parking for about 4 cars next door. If your car is a large one, however, you will find the entrance a tight fit. There are some very nice restaurants within a short walk.

Had a pleasant stay until we tried to get out of the steep driveway and scraped the edge of a truck while trying to avoid being hit by another car. Eva was very helpful and assisted us dealing with the car rental company and insurance representative.

This small family-run hotel was on the beachfront on the quieter side of town. It was just a short walk to the Old Town. The room was nice and airy with a balcony overlooking the sea. There is a terraced area adjoining the beach with plenty of sunbeds / seating. Eva, the manager, was very friendly and helpful. If you're looking for something more secluded than the more crowded long beach and row of hotels this may well suit you.

This hotel is wonderful, positioned right on the beach with lovely views plus a good walk into the old town. The size of the hotel means you can enjoy the weather and culture without the noise and business. Eva is a wonderful host and would recommend anyone to follow her recommendations for dinner or places to visit. The rooms have plenty of room and are cleaned daily, breakfasts are lovely with always something different to try and her little dogs adds lots of character. Only negative would be the big slope into the car park which made for an interesting start to the first journey we did but this is the only flaw (and absolutely a liveable one) in otherwise a perfect stay.

Wonderful service, went above and beyond. Unique accommodation, great refreshing pool (saltwater) great sunbeds. Breakfast was very enjoyable!!! The beach was great for swimming, lovely hotel away from the busy central city area, but a short walk to the historic area of Rethymon. We would love to go back and take our children with us and stay at Filoxena!!! Perfect Service!!

We had a brilliant time at Filoxenia. Eva looked after us so well. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a really relaxing time. The breakfast was delicious and the very civilised time of being served until 11 was much appreciated! we had a seaview from our room with a fantastic view of the bay of and the old town. The patio and beach were like a peaceful oasis and the location of the hotel was perfect. It was a 20 min walk into Rethymno which suited us fine. All in all we had a perfect holiday in our little taste of paradise. Thank you so much Eva and Nikos for providing us English ladies with such wonderful memories!

Stayed for 4 night at Filoxenia Beach. Absolutely lovely rooms with a fabulous sea view and for this price unbeatable. Breakfasts is definitely good and the hotel is like 20min to the old town of Rethymnon. If you have a rental car, even better as parking space is available and it is close to the motorway. The family who is running the hotel is just fabulous; they will take care of you and assistant as much as they can.

Its directly on the beach too, and has parking spots for 4 cars. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The hotel is run by a family, and they are very involved in the day-to-day business, greeting the guests and so on.The only slight drawback is that some rooms on the ground floor are close to the road, which is bustling with activity and tends to be a bit noisy. You can always ask for an interior room though.They hotel is good value for money, and I highly recommend it.
