The first impression with the hotel(s), which was spread over a few of close by locations, was fairly good. Parking was provided on site which was a benefit after very many hours of driving. Unfortunately my building and the room were disappointment. There was a tiny bathroom/shower cubicle that was almost the same size like one on ferries, which is anyway well known as a synonym for compactness and discomfort. The towels were very old and thinned by endless washing up (which on its own is not too bad), but I suppose the owners should know that from time to time they have to be replaced with new ones. On the other hand the bathroom was immaculately clean which was very good and reassuring. The room was fairly big and could not understand why on the Earth they did not add another 50-60 cm to the bathroom to allow you not to walk to the toilet sideway. The main criticism I had is about the bed and bed linen. Where to start? The pillow, if it could be called like that, was a joke - a pile of unshaped plastic fibre in oversized bag that in normal circumstances should be called a pillowcase but it was nevertheless a bag, I think, made of cotton fabric. The bed mattress was stone hard and according to the literature it will be more suited for the prison cell than for the one in a hotel. The bed was covered by plastic rubberised sheet that in contact with the skin caused allergic reaction and a hot flush that made sleeping impossible. What happen with old fashioned and ever lasting hotel white cotton bedlinen? The next unfortunate element of the sleeping setup in Hotel am See was inadequate duvet which size (80-90x200cm), is not suited for comfortable sleeping of an adult. Maybe it will be good for a child or a tiny person but for 185cm sized guy was utterly small even if I was still back sleeping block. This duvet was definitely not suited for side and frequent turning sleeper. All in all I had horrible sleepless night which was not helped by the fact that I needed to continue my journey in the morning for another 8-9 hours on the motorways. Only good thing was truly versatile and generous breakfast. I have to admit that for a longtime I have not seen such a variety of different items on self-serving tables, and I have to commend this service and give it 5 out of 5 stars. Unfortunately as much I salute to hotel for a great breakfast the fact is I needed much more restful and comfortable overnight sleep than a full belly in the morning. Good sized black coffee and a croissant will be more than enough for majority of us to get the day going. Anyway my room was classed as a Single Basic which was in fact priced very similarly with much better rooms with comfy bed, quality bedlinen and bigger bathrooms in other hotels across EU and UK. Any stars for my stay at Hotel am See above 1 is only for their great breakfast which without hesitation I would trade for a good night sleep which unfortunately I did not have there.
