Whenever visiting Rethymno, we stay here (several times already). It's on the north edge of the old town, right across the road from the municipal parking lot, which is good when you have a lot of luggage. The host (Iro) is very friendly and helpful, and it's very quiet inside. All the comforts are there like wifi and air conditioning. Highly recommended.

Iro is an excellent host. She’s very friendly, helpful and gave us a lot of information about the area. Our room was beautifully decorated with wonderful stonework. The kitchenette had everything you would need. The bed was comfortable and the towels were soft and high quality. There were several communal and garden areas to rest and relax in outside our room as well. Great location. This is a perfect place to stay.

This hotel is fantastic! The location is perfect for walking around the old town. As always in these ancient towns, parking can be sporting. However, here, simply drop your bags nearby or at the hotel and look for a place. We found a free parking space quite easily and it was a very busy day. Just drive around the fortress. Our room was perfect. Clean and a great shower. The owners are lovely. Restaurants nearby have the best of Cretan cooking. Highly recommend.

We have stayed here before and it's a quiet, clean and very convenient place to visit old town Rethymno. The location is on the edge of the pedestrian-only zone, and close to the (paid) parking lot at the port. There is good Internet and air conditioning, and a kitchenette too. Our host Iro is very friendly, accessible and responsive to any problems. Our room this time was up two long flights of stairs (and a steep staircase to the loft bedroom). So if you have trouble climbing, you may want to book one on the ground floor :) We'll definitely stay here again!

Staying at Barbara Studios was like staying with family. Hint: Barbara and her husband live in the front and their daughter Iro is taking care of the guests. Our room was gorgeous and cozy. There are small little details everywhere and you can see and feel the love they put into it. We really enjoyed our stay and will come back for sure <3

Lovely family property with beautiful communal area including a lovely garden. Family live on site and are available daily to support guests. The property is well maintained and rooms are regularly cleaned and linen/towels changed. The property is well located and just minutes walk from both the old town and Venetian harbour. Barbara Studios is amazing! Our apartment was exactly what we needed, a home away from home, with a sea view from our private balcony - we were upgraded from a ground floor apartment to top floor so that we had the balcony. The property is bigger than expected but the layout ensures privacy at all times. Fantastic location, a short stroll to the old town and the beach is just up the road. We already want to go back!

After a long journey, Panos’ welcome was just what we needed! Beautiful, clean mezzanine studio with everything we could need, including a well-equipped kitchenette. The only drawback was that we were only there for 2 nights and would have loved to have stayed longer to explore the area more.

Authentic old venetian/ottoman/cretian home that is located in the heart of the city. Our host Panos greeted us warmly and gave us information about the old city. It is a bit confusing finding the hotel the first time because it is loacted in a short street near a catholic church and cannot be accessed by car. We had no trouble finding parking on the adjacent street- and there are also other free parking lots close by. I would recommend the meze restaurants near the old mosque. They have great authentic food. All in all, Rethymno is a beautiful city and Barbara studios is ideally suited to enhance your experience!

Barbara Studios offers nice and affordable rooms in the heart of Rethymno. I had a calm, tidy and cozy mini appartment, with a small kitchen area and fridge. The caring hosts do a great job and give advice (for sights and restaurants) and help if needed. A rooftop terrace and "chill-out" areas in the courtyards make the house (with about 15 rooms) a comfy space. I really enjoyed my stay there and can warmly recommend it to those who look for alternatives to "normal" hotels.

We originally planned to stay in Rethymno for a night. However, upon arriving at the hotel which was located at the heart of the old city, we quickly changed our mind. The owner welcomed us to his hotel and hometown of which be would share several tips. We got a cozy room with a small kitchen, å bathroom and a separate bedroom. The hotel had several floors, and you also have the chance to catch a glimpse of the city's view on the rooftop. Due to its localition, we were lucky to eat at many restsurants with good local food. I would say that these options are better than the touristy restsurants on the beach/coast strip. Altogether it was a very pleasant stay, and we would definetly have stayed for more than two nights if we could have:)

Some hosts try so hard to be nice. Or to seem nice. Panos and Iro, dont try to make that impression. They are simply, nice. And extremely helpful when it comes to helping out in any possible way they can, giving extensive, useful information about the town. They are passionate about their town, and about hosting. That is also evident in the smallest details of how the rooms are prepared and equipped, and in the charming public spaces.The place itself, you can barely think of a better location, in the heart of the old town, a beautifully renovated old traditional house with internal courtyard.

Most hotels on Crete are really old. This studio is so much better. It's beautiful and comfortable. I recommend drinking a bottle of wine on the roof terrace at night. You have a view of the harbor, castle and old town. The owner spent 20min to give us advice.

The proprietor is friendly and accommodating. The location is very convenient, except for navigating the narrow 'streets' and finding parking. The free parking offered by Barbara Studios is actually public parking several blocks away (which is in fact disclosed in the directions for finding it). There is pay parking about a block away which can be had for €8 day if you pay in advance for multiple days. The pay parking also makes it a little easier to come and go.

And the Best Hosts medal goes to Barbara Studios. Welcomed by Panos, who was as joyful as the disney characters on his t-shirt, we could already see that this is going to be our best stay in Crete. He helped me to find free parking near the hotel and then guided me back to the hotel, where they gave us a detailed introduction to Rethymno. They equipped us with a city map and restaurant list, which was extremely helpful knowing the number of places available to eat in Rethymno. Every place we visited from that list was excellent. When it comes to the hotel itself, there was nothing more one can ask for in a hotel. Venetian house, very cozy, fresh and clean rooms.In short this place was just perfect. We highly recommend it.Thank you Panos and Iro for such this pleasent memory me and my family have in Rethymno.
