About this apartment rental
The walkout finished basement at Moonfire Farm is a cozy 2bdrm apt with full kitchen. It has a patio with views of the animal pen with alpacas and goats prancing around. Free range chicken eggs to pluck from the coop. Always cool in the summer. 2 miles from Preddy Creek- a county hiking area with cooling waters close to the parking area. 30 minutes from Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park. We specialize in the farm experience. You might find chicken poop on your front stoop but you can also take an alpaca for a stroll around the yard. We have a zip line and swings for the kids and a firepit for those who want to do smores and enjoy the stars. High speed WiFi ! Luna our livestock guardian dog will probably greet you when you pull in (right side of the driveway). We do not currently have wifi but we are expecting to have it by January 2023

The property is very nice! Had no idea it was i in the middle of the woods so that Was a shock. But the accommodations was very nice and the host was very nice and helpful. This is a nice spot if you enjoy camping and animals because he has chickens and ducks!

The property and the hosts were amazing! Such kind and caring people, the apartment was fully stocked with everything needed such as snacks, drinks, cooking utensils, and even bathroom products! We absolutely loved our stay and guard dog Luna is the sweetest ever!

Mixed feelings about the stay. Pretty area, nice unit overall, big bedrooms. Living room very small, not really comfortable for three people to sit and watch a show. We spent more of our downtime in the bedrooms, watching something on a laptop. Kitchen well stocked. Bathroom big and clean but I really wished there was a holder thing in the shower for our own supplies, not just the caddy on the shower floor that was already full of supplies. (To be fair, I didn’t ask if they had one.) Good AC and WiFi. Chickens and ducks are cute, and we knew ahead of time they don’t have alpacas etc anymore, as you see in the photos. We fed the chickens a couple times, but we couldn’t collect eggs as mentioned in the listing and we were looking forward to, because they are doing work on the coop. I’d asked ahead of time about the pool being ready, and technically it was, but there was a wasp nest right there, and our host and others were stung that weekend, so we didn’t feel comfortable using the pool. It was a crazy hot weekend so that was a real bummer. Also it’s a smallish raised pool which is fine, but not a great area if we wanted to sit out while our son was in the pool. We went to a little waterpark in Charlottesville which was fun.The host was super nice/responsive, and overall it’s a nice place, but we wouldn’t stay here again. Our main goals were to have farm fun and pool time, and to veg out together. Little or big disappointments in each area.
