The hotel was unclean and tide. No concern for guest Health and Safety, with cleaning material and vacuum clearers left in wound in the corridor. The bathroom smelt damp and the bedding was uncomfortable.

Lovely building, room was of a high standard with a good view, staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a nice quiet break within an hour of the ferry ports.

We booked the hotel for a short overnight stay just off the Eurotunnel before a long drive South the next day. Fed up of getting up at silly o-clock in the morning to take an early train! The hotel was ideal for this - just off the A16 situated in the centre of town so convenient for local restaurants etc. The hotel was absolutely fine - looked like it had recently been refurbished. Room was comfortable - didn't get chance to eat there but looked to be a good restaurant and breakfast.

The Hermitage is one of our favourite hotels, and we use it for overnight stops between our home in south west France and Calais. The staff are always very welcoming. There is an excellent bar ideal before a meal in the hotel restaurant. The rooms are clean and comfortable with excellent bathroom facilities.

The bed was good, not so much the pillows. The room was big (we paid for the larger one). And the housekeeping team are really nice. The desk team are nice too. But having said that, the room was fantastic 30 years ago, now needs a good update. They had plumbing issues during the weekend, still they kept booking guests who would then complain about no heating in the room (they did solve this with mini heaters upon complaint, which was a nice solution, but who on earth keeps the rooms online when they can't offer the comfort they charge you good money for?) Didn't try breakfast. They had a kettle and a couple of cookies in the bedroom, that was a good touch. If I had paid 80 euros for it, I would have been more happy with the rario quality/price.
